my fren once told me, the fisheye lens is a rich man lens, anyhow take photo also will turn out good...lol

Maybe. Fisheye lenses turn in images that viewers will either find odd/ silly or make them stare in awe. In this case, it has done the latter. It's a creative lens...it can make the most banal things look interesting, and perhaps that's what photography is partly about: finding and capturing a view which nobody else has managed to photograph.

I still can't forget that image that was taken underneath the bridge that runs from the Esplanade to Merlion Park...imagine how many have passed it by. Yet someone decided to photograph it and it was short-listed in a National Geographic competition!

*sigh* In my case, I'll carry on the endless search for creativity and inspiration in photography.

can someone explain how photos 4, 5, 9 and 10 got selected for the digital photo category???

4: how is it uniquely Singapore?

5: its quite common actually, and there are like so many 'american flags'.

9: this one absolutely puzzles me. why do judges like photos at the bugis junction fountain so much? so many shots have been taken there, i wonder why its still so 'special'.

10: this is the best of the 4 but the background could have been better.

Congrats to those whose photos got shortlisted.

Nevertheless, as a neutral, I still struggle to understand how the judges choose some photos for voting.

I getting feedback from my friends that they cant vote! Due to some "lockout" period which is stated as some IP logging after a vote has been cast but they've never been to that site till now.

Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
