Hi, I am not sure is it right to post here....but it for the TV, so I think should be ok.

I have been having prob creating photo slide show, when playback on TV, the resolution is super bad! Cant even see the eye properly....all my photo are 2mp pix, why is the resolution so bad on the TV? I understand the TV resolution is only a few hundred line both ways only....the 2mp pic should be more than enough...

I tried Pinnacle Studio and another software (cannot recall now), both burnt as VCD and SVCD format also the same....

Anyone here can give me some tips on how to make good Photo Slideshow for TV playback??

Thanks!! TIA!

try proshow gold?
i managed to create pretty good slideshow with the utlra friendly application..
but my photos are all 6mp pix though..

i had created a thread with smiliar Q too.. haha..

that depends on the compression and the output size, just imagine this, a normal vcd is running at 352x288 or 352x240 (Pal,NTSC)and a DVD is running at 720x576 or 720x480, the pix on DVD is definitely better than VCD, and your 2mp pix, i think should be about 1600x1200 (iirc) so compare on a normal monitor output about 1280x1024 or maybe lower specs 1024x768, its still better than a 720x480 or 352x240.

and while u do a slideshow, the system will just throw out the excess information when rendering, but when you are doing a trial on the system, it will look sharp cos they took the exact picture and load it to memory and showcase using the system performance. If system is slow, will show lagging.

Unless a next system is coming out, maybe high-definition rendering, let you run at 1280 x 720 or even better, 1920 x 1080... then your pixs would be darn sharp...

oh ya forget the key point... imagine u stretch 352x240 over like a 24" screen vs 720x480, which 1 would be clearer? the 720x480 right? it boils down to the pixels being bigger as its stretched hence unclear... but if u use a 14" i doubt u will see the difference...

Hi Del_CtrlnoAlt, thanks for the explanation again....Actually, my question is what should I do to get nice slideshow for TV playback? Like those made for wedding playback? What software? Or should I burnt to what format?

Thanks!

Proshow is nice... u can try it, and remember to use the best resolution for eg DVD. else if u are using mac, idvd is not bad as well... it all boils down to compression, if you set to high quality kind, you can get about 30mins over 4gb, quality is good, whereas normal might be 2hour over 4gb.

Ok, will try it. Thanks a million!!!

Pinnacle Studio actually can do tat.. jus make movie to MPG2 or DVD instead of VCD or SVCD. reason > some aready mentioned earlier.
:)

Just curious, when we watch VCD (with VCD format of cos also 352x288 or 352x240 ), why the resolution is not so bad leh?:dunno:

Thanks!

cos your tv small... try it on a bigger screen... :bsmilie: or maybe just compare with a DVD.

there is also more things that are lost in VCD compared to DVD - Sound, Color, Clarity, added features.

The best to me is use Adobe After Effects, its the best and the effect is really amazing, the only problem, it takes some time to figure out how to fully utilize.

I think you have mis-understood me...I am comparing apple with apple.

Purchased VCD(with VCD format) Vs VCD I burnt

On the same TV set. Why the VCD I burnt show very bad resolution compared to the purchased VCD? Can't even compare to TV program, on the same TV set...:dunno:

Sounds good...U know I ever got so angry with those slideshow software that I use 3D studio max to make slide show! Good ah!! But tedious.

All root down to the source.:)

Personally I think there is no shortcuts to quality...

Another software you could try is MemoriesOnTv. It is a S'pore product. Easy to use and not expensive http://www.codejam.com/

What do you mean by source? I am sure a 2mp pic has more than enough info for VCD resolution rite? Or is there any resize needed (like resizing in PS) before importing into Pinacle Studion? Thanks...

Can can some1 help by tell me his workflow on how he make usable (at least same quality as TV program loh) photo slideshow for TV viewing?:dunno: I will try to burn to DVD as suggested in earlier discussion.

I am sorry if I sound stupid....but this is the problem I face...:(

Thanks all!

I went thru this route a few years ago. I know how you feel. Anyway, a "good source" is important. However, my advice is to burn "dvd" quality output. Forget about VCD. Try the MemoriesOnTv software. Very easy to use and comes with auto transition if you are lazy. At the end of the day, if your original source is sharp images, your dvd output will be sharp

u wan me to show u mine? hehe, i have a dvd slideshow which i did for my friends...

u know, the diff between mine and others is, mine 2gig = 1/2 hour, and if i use the 'super' mode, which is 4gig = 1/2hour, the image would be even better... it all boils down to the software used and also the quality that you have selected, same like tv hdd/dvd recorder, you can specify the quality/compression, like m1, m2 etc, the one that can stretch more time will obvious have poorer image, and the one which uses more capacity will have clearer image.

above is based on just software with equipment used for viewing & rendering omitted.

Ok guys, since DVD is now so common, I shall burn with DVD format. Thanks for all the tips!
