While browsing through the photos and saw some b&w ones, suddenly remember that Stanley told me that for film IR, what we get is black sky and white leaves (and also noise). So decided to try to achieve that effect. Comments (especially from Stanley) are welcome.

#1 Cannot get black sky because shooting at sun direction but wondering whether for film if face sun direction also have grey colour sky?

Thanks Dennis.

The glow is from the white leave, is it? Does that means the leaves are not bright and/or white enough?

No IR on film have a special glow that most of us cannot replicate thru PP.
Very hard to explain, anybody ??.

Tan, u might like to try a tad gaussian blur .. when add grain use add noise.
If your pix is too sharp... the Film IR effect is gone..This is esp true for
the mod cam... it is very sharp. It has its advantage but also lost the
traditional IR feel... just sharing my opinion.:)
Did u convert to b&w with the combi pix...can see a distnct "cut" betwn
sky and subjects.
Maybe better convert from the original IR photo from cam

Touch up the photo by
1) Use only IR photo (no coloured overlay)
2) Add glow filter (hope it does not overexpose too much)
3) Add noise
4) Use lesser usm

Stanley and Dennis, more advice please.

Tan, let me share my opinions.
Looking at the right portion of the bushes and the tree trunk...the
B&W IR effect with grainy texture is good and the glow seems just nice. But
not so obvious in this pix coz of the glow elements are quite isolated (e.g. trees apart).
So this got nothing to do with your PS... Your PS now is to your best now.
The sky (rather dark) actually accentuates the whiteness and almost makes it
seem to be overexposed. but it isn't.
You might want to try lightening the sky to see the impact of sky tone against
these beautifully processed BW IR.

IR pix is all about creating a feel more than just a nice sharp colorful pix which we
normally aim at for a colorful landscape pix.
Once we know the technique understand the IR PS skill, we can move on to
create a feel by choosing the appropriate subject for an IR photo that move the viewer with
a particular feeling that is uniquely IR.
Just sharing the Ideal I wish to see...this doesn't means I had already achieved it.;)

Once you know the technique and with your good PS skill, you can move on to
create a feel by choosing the appropriate subject for an IR photo that move the viewer with
a particular feeling that is uniquely IR.

Look through some of my photos to find some that I think can give some kind of mood and try pp them.

Yes, these 3 with its B&W have the IR feel...
#5 the pointed structure spoil its mood..:bsmilie:

Btw, the thick border and the "big" text overpower this kind of pix...

Sometimes I prefer without border and word that blur off into the pix.
again this is just my preference.:)
Keep sharing.

Thanks Stanley for your advice. Will print a copy to see how the pp pics look like. Will discuss with you when I see you next time.
