Trip looks interesting. But on second thought, are the models on social pass or they got permit to do work as models up North? I do not want to end up facing a group of Malaysian policemen and all that trouble, especially if we were to stop along the road to do photo shoot.
Can Stanley advise?
There is no problem at all. They are paid in Singapore and not working for any COMPANY in MALAYSIA. Local models travelled to all over the world to do photoshoots. I have been in this line for a long time, so I know the do's and don't. We at Stanley Lim Colour Centre have a reputation to keep as well. I think it would be unwise of us to do illegal shoots in another country without first knowing their law.
The only permit a company needs to get is the place we are shooting. The permit we need to get if were are shooting commercial places, like commercial buildings(Petronas Twin Tower, All Hotels, Shopping Centres), busy streets(interfering with the traffic), Goverment Buildings, Airports, highways, Petrol Station and sensitive areas. Guess what? We are not going to any of this places. Location will be given out participants only.
I am a Malaysian (based in Singapore and Malaysia) myself and have done model shoots all over Malaysia, Australia, Japan, China, Thailand and etc. Advertising agencies and myself have done plenty of model shoots as well. We have approach the relevent authorities(including the Police) about it, and they say as long it's not a immoral act(shooting nude), we do not need any permit.
