make our life so hectic and troublesome now.. i can imagine even the spore airport is going to step up a lot on security
wildstallion said:Nope, they will refuse you entry to the plane if you will not check such items in, IIRC.

wildstallion said:I really dont see the problem, no hand luggage = no more clutter, better security, no people with huge bags shoving their way on a plane, just check your camera stuff in, make sure its well padded, will be perfectly fine!
Handluggage should have been banned a long time ago, its just a pain.

I had to check my camera bag at the gate once. I was so worried couldn't enjoy the flight.
This really sucks!!!!! Hey may be for photographers going for oveseas assignments, now we can charge more for the hassle of having to get insurance, excess baggage.....$$$$
kcuf2 said:even if u use a pelican case and use 100 locks on it, it will still not help at all...because at the checkout, any1 could simply take ur luggage on the conveyyor belt and walk out without being questioned!
sidenote: i think the budget airlines in europe will be smiling happily..now cant bring water bottle and cant bring food...ppl no choice got to buy food from them![]()

Personally I haven't had any of my travelling cases stolen before, so what makes you think people can tell that your particular case contains expensive equipment and they will take it? If you label your case "camera equipment" then off course you're asking for it. It's extremely unlikely that people will do so in the first place because of the risk involved. If you're really THAT paranoid, then practise what we're known for, kiasuism. Sprint to the baggage collection area as soon as you get off the plane and make sure you're the first one there. An alternative is to pack your camera hardcase in a incongruous brown cardboard box so it looks like fruits or something.
If I go on holiday I would still bring the same equipment as before, there's simply no sense getting paranoid over this whole issue. Just insure it. If you really don't feel safe, the camera will be perfectly safe in your dry box, not capturing images. In fact, if you never take it out, it will remain safe from all manner of scratches, dust, moisture, dents, knocks. What's more, your shutter count doesn't increase, so the shutter stays spanking new! Hurray! Get a small PnS for holidays.
