Haha, the white balance for most of your indoor shots are also perfectly balanced, really good shots. I assume they are balanced in photoshop?
Oh yes! Went to Japan and faced the same problem as you. Since I shoot RAW and brought only a 4GB along, was so tempted to get another card there but prices are just insane. However, I get my filters from Japan as I can only find Marumi there. Used to using Marumi so I usually get my filters in Japan. BIC Camera is one sick and poisonous place

neat and nice!
thanks for sharing

thanks man, yep they were balanced in Camera Raw before processing in pshop CS4.
my setup was a 50D, 17-55, 50 f1.4, 35 f2. i shot in raw too, and i brought like 20gb worth of CF card haha was panicking towards the end of the trip when my card space was running low.. i have no idea why CF cards there are so expensive! almost double the price..
didnt take a CPL along and was tempted to buy one there, but the price.. lol. couldn't find any B+W filters.. only saw kenko and hoya.
love the camera shops there.. they display every model, and every lens, and you're free to swap out and interchange the lenses by yourself to try! i played with all the 1D/1Ds/D3/D3x/D700.. so fun!!
wow...great pics..love them...
I will be going to Hokkaido soon and hope to take some good pics. Plan to bring my 40d + 17-55mm and 50mm f1.8.
Noted your comments "some of the photos i took outdoors were a bit wasted as they were washed out and lost a lot of detail..".
Do u recommend to buy a ND4 filter here in Singapore or a polariser filter instead? Any recommendation on which filter or brand to get?
Thanks in advance.

i brought my 2 primes along, but barely used them more than a few times. but safe to bring along in case u need it
yeah i recommend u buy a neutral density filter especially if the sun hits hard.. sometimes u just need one if shooting outdoors under a bright sun. there are a few types, ND2, ND4, ND8.. depending on your needs.. i was in a rush and decided on the ND4, i think its a safe choice, but u may want to research a bit more before u plop down your money.
i bought kenko as its the only one i could find there at the store that day with 77mm size.
polarizer and neutral density filter is different by the way! i should've brought a polarizer too but didnt..
nice.... thanks for sharing!
# 11 is a nice take. Without the guy with the mask, the people at the background would be just another scene
I quite like # 16 too!
Haven been to Tokyo before, but I would probably transit in Tokyo for my nxt Jap trip.
Roasty care to share with us wat was your itinerary like ?
Ryan

Nice pictures you got there. It reminds me of what I failed to capture!
Actually, I was also in Tokyo last week with my entire family. I ended up taking mostly portrait shots of my kids and wife with the attractions.
One thing I'll learn from this is to improve by photographer's instinct. Just snap-and-snap, not just looking in awe with the beautiful place.
BTW, some things I observed and liked in Tokyo:
1) People do not smoke in the streets or any public crowded area.
2) People do not use their phones on the train. Even if they needed so, they use it briefly and don't talk so loud.
3) People can eat in trains. I saw one jap who actually prepared and ate his noodle inside the train. In spite of this, the trains are still clean.
looking back, i actually wish i had taken more photographs of the people there..

Um, are you sure that #54 is Salmon... i saw similar 'chucks' of fish when i vivsted the bmarket, assumed it was Tuna... nope it was Whale.
hmm.. nd4 filter just cuts the overall brightness by 2 stops. it doesnt do anything to reduce contrast, unless u are talking about an nd grad filter. the only way i see it affecting is if you want to shoot at a wide f-stop and you have already max-ed out your fastest shutter speed.
