thinking of getting a wide angle lens, is tokina 12-24 a good choice ? can any user share with me ?( i have a d7k body)...
What's de price range like ? Other than CP any shops selling this lens ? Thanks in advance...

It is not bad. But my personal favorite is tokina 11-16/2.8

I bought a Tokina 19-35mm lens recently. Although it's a very old lens, it still looks very new due to its solid build quality.

IQ wise, cannot make it when wide open :bsmilie:

Anyway, I bought it for landscape so it's ok. Anyone has this lens as well?

the 19-35 isnt very good. its more of a generic lens also made by cosina and vivitar. look for the 20-35 3.5-4.5 which should be abit better, or the 20-35 2.8 AT-X pro which was my main lens for over a year. the ATx pro has superb image quality, very sharp and pretty good contrast too. mine had abit of an issue with back focus though, but now with AF fine tune that shold be ok. the 24-40 2.8 is pretty good too, but some of them have bad coatings(they turn brown) and thne you get v weird colour casts.

A strange thing about my 19-35mm is that the exif would show as 20mm instead of 19mm when it is used at the widest end.

hmm.. i ve only seen the 20-35 3.5-4.5 which looked better than the 19-35, but never actually used it. could be the same lens but changed externally!.. the 20-35 2.8 is sweet. it ll give the nikkor 20-35 a run for its money, but the nikkor 17-35 is quite alot better wrt flare and contrast.

+1 on the 20-35 f/2.8 ... Me still holding on to the lens n just sent it for servicing at CP few months back and cost me ard 100bucks or so. Love the lens and I dun see many around ... :)

BTW, dun see many having the 16-28 other than DD & A .... looks like an awesome lens :)

i'm using 20-35 f/3.5-4.5 most of the time these days.good for portraiture shots. no doubt about the build, but overall i'm very happy with the PQ and the price i've paid
