Yo bro,
seems ver cheap getting the lens from Hong Kong but anyone know warranty wise recognise in SG ?
Hi guys,
dunno if i'm OOTing.
But have any of the T116 user used it to take portrait shots?
I used it to take some grp photo. & found out the alot of them are oof.
especially so when i'm not using the centre AF pt. difference is v.distinct when i focus with the centre pt & those at the side. focusing at close range with my corner AF pt will definitely get a oof picture.
is it inherent with T116? or should i send my lens for a checkup?
What's e aperture u used? mine with d90 using f8 to 11 also tend to b oof still.
I wonder how sharp is sharp in e global reviews.
But i have been told over n over due to its wide nature.. I can expect great sharpness only in e center.
f8 as well.
by sharpness, i'm only referring to the most basic one. those lvl achievable on P&S camera.
here's an example.

focus was on their face.
but the camera still perform well when taking landscape shot.[/QUOTE]

I think the focus was on the red dress?
Both faces seems to be oof.
I had used the lens for portrait as well and have no prob so far.
Maybe its because you focus at the wrong points?
mmmm...
tokina 11-16 @ F8 compared to sigma 10-20 @ F8? tokina sharper? i not tested on tt..

Hi Guys,
Have anyone sent Tokina Lens with international warranty over for service locally before ? Cos i head there was a additional svc charge to repairs with international Warranty .
Cheers
CY
trying call cathay photo? there are the official dealer.
yup Called them and they mentioned for international warranty need to charge a svc fee for repairs .
Parts wise also subjective pending management decisions . Wonder Any guys experience this before ?

This is as good as no international warranty. Not an unusual stance since CP didn't get any revenue from the sale and doing the extra work to claim back from the manufacturer for material etc may not be worth their while. Also another way to influence potential customers to buy locally.
Hey all,
I just bought the Tokina 2 days ago. I haven't really tested it for landscape shots, but I did test the sharpness by photographing still objects. From what I found out (btw I used flash because my room is very dim and I didn't want to shoot beyond ISO 400, which would defeat the main purpose here hehe), the lens is extremely soft at f2.8, but it improves greatly when stopped down. It's very sharp at f8. Is this really the case? It's soft even at the center. If it is the way it's supposed to be, it's fine because I will use this lens mostly at f8 or smaller. But it did bother me a bit. The pic at f2.8 is still usable, but if you zoom it in, you can see that it's really soft. I thought I might use this lens to take environmental portraits and use the wide aperture to give shallow DOF. Is my lens defective?
Edit: My camera is 40D btw. Thx
