Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8

as a big aperture sucker, i love my 11-16. f2.8 gets u through dimmer light condition, and occassionally night lightscape handheld especially during travels without tripod (who say f2.8 cant do landscape/cityscape especially you are not into the fine details but just the atmosphere)

i did challenge a night party last year with just my 11-16, not really the best shots, but you get the idea ;) http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=620497&highlight=zoukout

If the tokina 11-16 were made by nikon, it would certainly make the cut as being part of the "Holy Trinity" of lenses.....though, it would no longer be a "Trinity"...!!!;p

Anyway, dont hesitate, just buy it!! Its one of the best UWA lenses at a resaonble price.

enjoy!!

I got the 11-16 recently and its a sharp and fast lens. However, what it lacks is the zoom which makes it less flexible sometimes. But I guess, you can make it up by just walking a few steps forwards or backwards.

Another thing is that you may not want to discount the other lenses until you've tried them personally. I've tried the Tamron 10-24mm and the pictures look sharp and rather good too but I didn't get it because of the variable aperture.

Tokina 12-24mm is also worth the buy. But I think, you really have to try it out and think what kind of pictures you really want to take and the situation you are taking them in.

Just my two cents worth.

Tried both but decided to only keep 116 & it's excellent for that group photo & WA shoots. Just been to OP today & they just received like 10 pieces of 116 in stock & some 124DXII

just bought the tok 11-16 and loving it. no regrets after coming from tok 124.

Just bought today :)

acitinium - how much is it

You can pay a visit to MS Colors at AMK or OP at SLS cos they usually carry this lens. Last I bought was under $1k

Is DDelectronics.com reliable??

Sorry, hijack this thread for awhile, Canon 10-22mm and Tokina 11-16mm, which one is better?

If u guys wana go to buy Tokina 11-16mm, why dun we form a team and go down and buy and get better discount.

canon 10-22 is better in terms of:
1. flare control
2. 1mm wider.

i have used canon 10-22 before, it look cheap...

I am now considering tokina 11-16 or sigma 8-16... hard to decide..

sigma 8-16 got no filter thread, and i am still trying hard looking for workaround
from what i read on the net, tokina 11-16 flare badly...

u can look for review of tokina 116 at:

1. photo.net (Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 ATX Pro DX AF for Canon ($600))
2. lenstip.com

both show u how badly is the flare...

imho, flare will limit your composition... i will be glad if i am proven wrong :)

U make me change my mind from s8-16 to T116

Hi all nikon users. I'm currently using a nikon d5000. I've heard lots and lots of rave reviews of this tokina lens and i wan a gd wide angle lens w/o burning my pocket (nikkor lens r abit over the budget). the only prob is the tokina lens do not come wif AF on my dslr. Any users know if Tokina is coming up with the same lens with in-built AF motor?

Recommendations for wide angle lens?

Thanks...

With your camera, you have 2 pocket friendly viable options with built in motor only.

1. Sigma 10-20/4-5.6 EX DC HSM.
2. Tokina 12-24

No need to think so much. Only 2 lens to choose from. Both are cheaper than the Tokina 11-16.

I recommend the Sigma.

for photographers thinking of getting the lens...

it takes some time to get use to this lens.
you have to compose ur photos closer, lower or even higher than before.

most of the pics u see with the ultra wides are really upclose... love the effects...

:) heh don't expect really good results immediately. u will need to experiment on how to use this lens effectively. I had many crappy shots before I saw the light w this lens. happy shooting!!

how many of u guys are using this Tokina 11-16mm with a D80?
I read many ppl reporting of AF problems.
anyone here has this problem too?
does it affect only old batches or all batches of the tokina 11-16?
