Just bought E520 yesterday at Funan.
Body with 14-42mm and 140-600mm lens for about $1350 with GST.
Maybe some can say its slightly expensive but I like the customer service of the sales person.

I also newbie to photography. Have look for a good camera but having budget constrain. In the end decided to try and experience the E520 as E510 has good ratings and feedbacks. Best of all its the latest model for olympus.

erm, you mean 70-300 lens right? as if got 140-600 at this range i'llbe rushing to get it now...

Looks like you got a dual kit lens (14-42 + 40-150) package to me.
The E510 were selling $1,299 at PC Show two weeks ago...14-42 and 40-150...

but E520 with 14-42, 70-300 only $51 extra??? wow....good deal...

anyway...tried the E520 today.....live view with autofocus half shutter press is nice...

Cheap! What freebies did you get? Mem cards, cleaning stuff (never use them though), tripod, bag etc.? And btw, good choice getting the 70-300 rather than the 40-150. Slow, but a wonderful lens.

Yup its the 70-300 lens. My mistake as there is the 140-600 equiv sticker on it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but after handling the E520, I feel that the 520 is better built than the 510. Feels more sturdy, less plasticky, and less creaky?

Also, I think the LV autofocus is a great feature on the 520. It prob will not be used much, but I think it means less missed shots if LV were to be used.

Even tho 520 is nearly as good as E3, one thing is that the LCD on the E3 is still much better than the E520. Din realize it until a salesman asked me about it and we did a comparison testing. Small point among many others but still interesting as I din know about it previously.

If budget allow, go with 70-300. If doesnt than stick to 40-150.

agree... 70-300 really a good lens to have... i love my 70-300 even i have 50-200..
