personally, I don't find swivel LCD on DSLR rather appealing.
U have to down and feel it urself...that's the deciding point.
Really? I think swivel LCD is fantastic.. allow you to compose at different angles that normal non swivel cameras can't.. well, at least not easily.

I guess everybody's requirement is different.

been having issues as well as to what to buy, d90 or d5000 or 500d. People say D90 is comparable with 5D while others say its comparable with 500d???

Prices of d90 with the 105mm kit can go as low as 16++ on some stores but limited freebies.

I think swivel LCD is great also. However using it with Liveview is another matter altogether since the AF is too slow.

Agree with Buddy. Being a new D90 owener, I would say "Live View" feature is close to crap due to the sluggish AF, except that it allows movie capture. So a swivel LCD is no attraction for me at all. On the other hand, the top LCD display is much more useful. Those are part of the reasons I decided to buy D90 just before D5K launched.

Does anyone notice any view quality difference whatsoever between D90 pentaprism and D5K pentamirror?

i agreed with firstrazor that the top LCD display is much more useful... if you asked me now which to decide, i will still go to D90 over D5K. Liveview or Swivel Lcd is good to have but asked yourself, how many time you will used these to aim at your subjects before pressed the shutter released button ? for me, I'd only used twice Liveview to aim at my subject and it's very sluggish and slow to AF...:nono:

hey im'a new d90 user and all i've got to say is its fantastic! liveview isnt really what most pple would use anyway so to me tilting lcd won't be of much help. plus, d90 has the top lcd which is definitely very convenient and saves battery too! ;)

sth to note. d5000 has a viewfinder magnification of only 0.78!

I personally think the D5000 is good, why?

Reasons as follow:
1) Comparable low light performance to D90
2) High ISO capable
3) Swivel LCD - I only appreciate importance of Swivel LCD after I spent my trip to Euro Disneyland where there are many tall ang mo who just block your camera. Swivel LCD allow u to take shot at arm full extended position.

I appreciate having 2 scrolls to congtrol AP and SP. This is extremely useful when I use Manual mode for long exposure during landscape.

I just bought the D5000 body, the image quality is excellent can easily match the D300 images, sharp and details. The vari angle LCD is very useful, I shoot a lot of macro, under the sunlight the D300 LCD is very hard to do review after the shoot but D5000 I can adjust to other angle for easy viewing. it is light weight very easy to carry.

Personally, I prefer the D5000 mainly because of the light weight and small size. When I travel on holiday, I want a small light DSLR fitted with the 18-55 so that I can hide in a small bag when not in use. A heavy camera always gave me alot of pain on the neck/shoulder areas especially after a long day of walking. Also I have small hands so holding the small DSLR is not a problem. I wish the LCD has the same higher resolution like the D90 then the D5000 will be a perfect travel camera. Just my personal preference when touring oversea.

Happy shooting

Cheers

Andy

You're shots are amazing

D90 gets my vote... Swivel LCD is a great marketing tool but most of the time you will be using the non-swivel mode. To me, the higher LCD resolution on the D90 makes a big difference when reviewing my shots. You will find the top LCD is extremely useful as well as you use the camera regularly.

Eventually it is personal preference and a price/value proposition that you alone can decide on!!!

Looks like the TS has AWOL and he should have gotten his cam.
