Titanium M9

A couple of my Leica suppliers have just contacted me with the price of the Ti M9 kit (supposed to come with Ti 35mm Summilux with floating element). The price is about SGD35 to 40K depending on exchange rate etc.

Please take this with a pinch of salt as this is not the official pricing and the prices quoted to me could possibly have been inflated to "chop carrot head" since it is supposed to be a limited edition.

At the moment a M9 and 35mm Summilux together is about SGD19K? About twice the price.

I think its quite silly, coz Steel Grey is very very close to Titanium.

It is not just the color from what I have been told, the body is supposed to be made of Ti.

Kinda silly if you ask me, if it is for a mechanical I am all for it, but for a digital that will be obsolete in a few years?

Yup it's made of Ti

When obsolete can sell Ti to Garang Guni :bsmilie:

Seriously 40K  :faint:

looking forward to see who and when the first Ti M9 will appear on CS... :)

Oh really i tot that titanium is only coating. If the m9 is made the same way as titanium lenses it is coating, not pure ti

Steve Huff mentioned this Ti M9 is rumored to have a new way to display the frame lines. Do I detect a M9 upgrade coming? M9.2

Not pretty at all .. Looks to me like a over sized X1 :dunno:

But the lens !

It looks interesting. Its not just a titanium M9. It looks like a prototype for a future M.

It doesn't have a frameline preview lever anymore. I think it might be selecting the framelines based on the 6-bit coding. It also doesn't seem to have a baseplate anymore, it has a door on the right instead. The camera also looks like its made differently. It looks like a one piece shell rather than a top plate over a chassis. I'm not sure on this point.

The hand holster is a wrong move.

It gets in the way of leather half case, and spoils the beauty of the leica.

If this is prototype for a future M, I think it looks promising.

Want to bet most people who buy one will never take it out of it's box?:p

Half cases aside, I have been looking for a handgrip for my M9 with no success.

Steve Huff posted that it will cost USD22 to 27K, about the same as my sources. Damn ex!

This is so obviously a camera that is not intended for practical use. lol.

Even as investment, I wonder whether got resale value, coz it is digital.

Yeah, I agree. No resale value. It will be a museum piece in a few years when the M9.2 or M10 is released.

the red logo looks like a shiny button-style ....uuugh

thumbs down for the design.

leica is going the wrong direction for M cameras... the market wants more vintage and retro looking cameras and leica brings about something that should be fitted onto a space shuttle.

looks ugly T_T

If someone gives me this m9, i will call police. ;(

The lens is beautiful though.
