Hi all,
Just wanted to find out comments on those who have used this?

Is this nice to have/good to have/ must have/etc?

thanks

good to have on normal lighting condition

must have on low light , slow shutter condition

As for steadying the camera for exposure, I don't feel it helps much.

But, it REALLY helps you if you're holding the camera for an extended period of time.

Was shooting my M9 and VC 75 f1.8 lens last night at Little India. handheld about 2 hours. The thicker M9 body is definitely a lot harder in my hand. I have pretty big hands so those with smaller hands should feel worse. Even with the luigi case that has the built-in hand grip, it's pretty uncomfortable after the first hour.

So today, I changed my Luigi case to my old M8 A&A case and put back the thumbs-up. Will test it out next time I am out and about for about 2 hours.

Today I wanted to buy but a friendly boss recommend me to buy Zhou case instead (it has a protruding finger rest at the front for stability)...so far for my first session with the M8 the case is quite comfortable. So thumbs up in the backseat of my mind for a while.

thanks friends for the comments.
I appreaciate the feedback!
now at causeway (50-50) about the thumbs-up
help : )

I have been using it, starting with my M8 and also on the 9. Absolutely love it. You will just have t get use to it, poking you. After a while you forget about that and just enjoy using it.

i think it is a "must have" accessories for me.. especially if you have big hands....been using from my m8.. m8.2... and now with my m9 and the X1... cant leave home without it...

I've been using it for a year with my M8. I prefer my M bodies bare (no case) and Thumbs Up replaces the winder on my film M that steadies up my grip. I would usually have the camera in my hands most of the time when I shoot so Thumbs Up is a must for me. I tried my friend's Leica grip and I definitely prefer Thumbs Up than the grip.

Anyone got issue of your thumbs up scratching the finish so far? Just thinking whether I should gaffer tape those areas in contact with the body.

That's what I did. A friend had a better idea. He used the slightly thicker 3m double sided tape and stuck it on the the Thumbs Up side and left the covering sticker on, on the side that touched the camera so no stick residue on camera at all.

That is smart. and yes i'm going to do it too.

I use it on my m6. i don't find that it gets in the way of the winder at all.

it really helps with stabilizing the camera. in good light, i can take one handed shots with no issue. in low light as others have mentioned, that combined with a soft release allows you to minimize shake.

have not tried the leather cases with finger grip before but i don't like cases on my cameras so i find this combination works best for me.

thumbs up is a 'must have' accessory for me.

If you do street or events, you have to hold the camera for long period, it is a BIG difference. especially, since nowadays when u do street, its so crowded people bump into you may knock the camera out of your hands if there is no good grip.

Thumbs up is a good to have accessory for the digital M, partner with a hand grip it let you have a steady grip of the camera to take those low light shots.

Only issue with regards to "thumbs up" model without a cold shoe is that it is difficult to take it off if you decided to use a flash.

got mine yesterday, yes its good
bought a zhou case as well, case more to protection, but not tat good to hold, makes it bulky. most prolly put aside the case

Yes, if you got small hands, with the half case it becomes too bulky to hand hold properly. So now I just mount a handgrip to the M digital with thumbs-up and left the Luigi case on the shelf at home.

according to chiif i have big hands, kakakakka
any other not so bulky half case for the M?
does the handgrip makes it much heavier?

I have an MP and the M9 and do not see the need for one for myself.

By the way, if you do decide to get one, if you are not careful, it can get stuck and not easy to take out of your camera.

Have to remove it once in a while then. To prevent stuck?
