Have I tried fly fishing? My dear, is the Pope Catholic? While I was at Uni I worked in one of Darwin's largest fishing tackle shops, I also wrote a weekly fishing column in a local newspaper. My pen name was the "Mad Mullet". I also repaired and built custom fishing rods for quite a few years.
I LOVE fishing.

1st pic is Jew Fish right?

2nd is Saratoga. Or known as Arowana here.

I love fishing too, been fishing since I was 8yrs old. At that time Found a Line and a Rusty Hook. I watch 1 uncle fishing and then I ask the uncle for 1 bait. Its just a short line and guess wat...I landed a baby MJ. lols. My family has history of being a Fisherman in Bedok(during the time where the sea was there)

Since then love gg fishing. Been taking pics of Fishing eversince and I actually wanted to be a Photo Journalist for Fishing Magazine. lols. Now the dream died. Its been a while since I stopped fishing. Eversince Someone stole my late mom's Rod...that Damn Lucky Rod. sighed...

Hi ricsal, vinze is also a mad fisho. Looks like there will be plenty of lies to tell at the FZ Outing. Are you able to come next Sunday?
Yeah first pic is a Jewfish, second as you said a saratoga caught on fly.
Hope to meet you on Sunday.

u mean like u are in a dark place (eg. clubbing at zouk)???... if u dun wan to use a tripod, shutter speed will have to go as low as possible, as u dun wan a blur image..
so its like

low shutter speed
big aperture (small F-stop)
higher ISO number

but without flash, it can't promise u picture without blur...

Yes, this I understand and will have noise too.

Abit confused of the setting, where can I do this setting? Not sure what you mean by big aperture?

BTW, what is the purpose of the hood adapter for?

Thank. ;)

the setting can be adjusted at manual mode, aperture mode, shutter mode, mainly... iA mode and other dun let u adjust any of it... aperture u have to try to read up about it, its related to F stop (eg F2.8 - F8.0)

hood adapter is to prevent flair (dunno if i spell it correctly), example like u wan to shoot something infront of u but at the side of ur camera got a very bright spot light or light source tat create some flair on ur lens, so ur hood act as a shade to prevent the light to shine on the lens..

u may wan to come for the outing this sunday to know more... =)

Any tips on shooting night shoot?

Best to have a tripod. if you don't press your camera body against a lamp post. =)

My most creative method is to bring a ziplock bag, without air, when you need it, just puff it up with air, and tada, you have an air pillow (much lighter alternative to the recommended beanbag.) You can rest your camera on the bag, helps keep it clean and gives you the angles you need, opposed to just plain surfaces. Of course, you can't use this method where there is wind. If not, it works fine.

Flash is awesome. =) There are 2 basic flash modes. Your standard flash (2 subtype uses, instant, and front curtain). and a slow-sync flash (rear curtain). There are different ways to use it... very hard to explain, you can either google or come for the outing and I'll show you. =)

But a brief and easy tip to understand. try a long shutter speed, with a short burst of flash. The short burst of flash will light up your subject, (even freezing it), and the slightly long shutter speed (just about 1/5 seconds maybe) will introduce the ambient lights into the scene. This will balance your foreground-background image in the dark. I will post an example in another post, very lazy and tired now.

Usually when you use flash at close ranges, there is no need for a tripod unless you're getting the effect mentioned above. The only thing is that flash may not bring out any background if its too far, this can make the shots rather uninteresting... I had a powerful flash (43 meters range at ISO100) to work with once, at a BBQ, using my friend's camera. However, it was open air... I had the potential to light up the entire background (in this case, there was no background either), but there was no celling to bounce, nor any bounce card was available to me... thus, it was only possible to light up the subject and maybe the floor... too boring. Therefore, flash must be used with care, and doesn't mean a powerful flash will do wonders. =P

Today has finally come, now it is panic stations to make sure everything is ok while away.
The monsoon has settled in and there has been 1 cyclone off the coast but posing no threat to Darwin. Next door neighbours will keep an eye on our place as we do for them when they go on holidays.
We depart at 6:00pm tonight and arrive about 10:00pm Sg.
Looking forward to chicken rice and a good laksa.;p

hi, anyone know how much is the price for FZ28 battery in Sg? I checked out and got the cheapest @ S$65. Any other shop selling cheaper? Thank. ;)

Hi, think of getting the DMC-FZ28 to replace my Olympus C5050.

Can the FZ28 able to control the intensity of the inbuilt flash just like my C5050?
