Hi guys,
I can't remember who previously asked how to get bokeh with an FZ18, but here's one pretty decent one I had. True that its not like dSLRs, but I think its good enough.
Its actually taken at 18x, F4.2 (surprising eh?). ISO100, 1/100s

I know this has been discussed to death in other threads, but despite my search, i still can't find the DMW-LA3! I want to try macro photography but won't be able to buy the lens until I get the adapter.
Anyone can point me to the right direction please?

Menu ---> AF assist lamp ---> OFF
the above step is for other mode... for iA mode, u cannot change it... the assist lamp is part of the iA calculation thingy i guess, so u can't off it
so if u do not wish to have tat lamp, i guess u will have to use other mode

Qiqi, just search ebay.sg for DMW-LA3.
You should have 3 results, all similarly priced from Japan. Approx 29-34 USD + 15 USD for delivery. I bought the cheapest, it was from some japanese comic + trading card shop, though it sounds ulu, it shipped in 3 days and in perfect condition.
Hope you enjoy the cam! Have you tried the Marco anyway? Skyguy was very kind to let me use his cam with the marco, after that, I discover that it wasn't really my cup of tea. The pictures are nice but the focusing was a real pain. The AF tends to miss, because the range is actually quite small, and you'll have to manually move the camera to/from the object to get a more optimal range.

i think the price is about the same for both shop... +-$50 ... some have more free some don't, i still remember when i was buying my FZ18, i actually called both shop for the price... and MS is cheaper but lesser free give (at that time AP give 4GB free, MS don't, but i dun mind the 4GB as MS still sell cheaper)... for me i stay in the north, so i go to MS to buy.. nearer... anyway there is alot of people selling 2nd hand FZ18, u might wanna consider FZ18 coz its alot cheaper...
have u considered P80 nikon??? ... haha... =x

well, tat will have to depend on urself, coz its a question of "do you wan a DSLR or prosumer?"... and the comparison of dslr and prosumer have been talk about in this forum, each have their own pro and con... in short its about how you wanna use ur camera and getting one tat fit its purpose...

wow... canon tat one look cool, was looking for canon S5 upgrade version, look like SX1 is it, but its not yet out in sg i guess... so by the time its out it should be more expensive

but personally i think i will prefer SX1... anyway have u consider nikon p80... i think its quite good too...

To me, to have a good zoom is rather important... so i suggest u get FZ28 or P80, i think by the time SX1 come out should be like FZ38 come out liao bah... haha... joking...
if i'm not wrong G1 is a DSLR, quite ex... i will suggest people to get 2nd hand dslr from clubsnap instead of buying a new one, unless its for job or very important, looking at the buy and sell part, there is alot of 2nd hand dslr
Disagree about the P80! P80 doesn't have very good aperture. If you want lots of zoom get a FZ18 with a good long teleconverter! =) or FZ28 which is a tiny bit shorter than FZ18.

I don't like the G1 specs and if I remember correctly it isn't a Leica lens, Panasonic doesn't survive well on its own.
LX3 isn't worth the money considering that a 2nd hand dSLR does a way better job, unless you really need to put it in your pocket.

Hmm.. G1 is not a DSLR... coz no "Lens Reflex" elements.
