[ Thoughts ] A trinity of lenses for OMD

Don't have a trinity here, but I usually bring a combination of 2-3 lenses with my Oly OMD and everything fits nicely in a small camera bag with my lens pen and I'm ready for almost anything.

Olympus 12, 2.0 - If I go on a holiday and see gorgeous landscape or architecture I would want to record it with the best possible lens, NO :nono: compromise here.
Panasonic 20, 1.7 - Value 4 $, 24/7 all round performer, no brainer here (at least until my bank a/c is healthier to afford the PanaL 25,1.4 :bsmilie:)
Olympus 14-42 MkII, 3.5-5.6 - Kit lens, wanna sell but not worth $ :dunno: ... focuses super fast, great for family videos
Olympus 45, 1.8 - Value 4 $, Pin sharp portraits, great for indoor events and fashion shoots
Olympus 45-150, F4-5.6 - kit lens, great for outdoor sports, zoo, only 190g damn light for telephoto

Any comments ?

after playing w some good quality prime lenses (12/14/20/25/45), now I'm settled on 14/25/45 combo. They work the best for me.

12mm, 25mm and 45mm. 75mm when it is available.

To the brother here, i am newbie in photo shooting.
now i only have default lens (12-50) and i plan to get one for scenary and one for portrait (baby n street)

and i see alot of comment from above...therefore i shortlist the below
45F1.8/ 25F1.4 (baby portrait) and 9-18mm F4.0-5.6(scenary)

which lens are more recomend?
thx thx..

Many people have different preferences. From the shortlist you mentioned, it is a good combination. i do have those lens. but i have the 7-14mm instead.

 since you already have the 12-50mm, may want to consider covering the longer end with 75mm f/1.8, this is a great portrait lens for baby n street IMHO.

For me, the holy trinity lens are:-

1) 20mm/F1.7 pancake (potraits and a super compact lens)
2) 7-14mm/F4 (Landscape)
3) 12-35mm/F2.8 (shoot anything also can lah!)

i think i might go to below combo
12-50mm(walkabout)
20F1.7mm (portrait) (comparing with 25F14 and 45F18 at CP just now, i think i will use this pancake more)
7-14mm (landscape)

will it be very weild?
75mm f/1.8 (bit cosy for me)

Mine are : 14mm, 20mm, 45-200mm. I have a fisheye lens too but hard to find chance to use it.

I bought the 14mm after the 20 and I must say I am very impress with the AF speed (my cam gf5) due to it's internal focusing mechanism as oppose for the 20mm where the front element moves in/out making some noise and slower.

Next lens for me should be the 45mm PL macro. But darn the price.

nah, not weird at all as long as the lenses meet your shooting style :) just thought you might appreciate something longer if you ever want to shoot concert portraits.

Mine is the 14mm,25mm, 45mm. (great iq and portability)
Panny 45-200mm for macro(add raynox) and other tele requirements.

Hear hear! A doubling of focal length - in old 35mm format that would work out to 24mm, 50mm and 90mm - excellent. These are the 3 most used Zuikos for me during the original OM days - only need to add a 200mm f4 Zuiko and you're all set. I guess in m43 land i'll be torn between getting the 75mm as well as these 3 lenses.

Have the 12/2 and will be getting the 17/1.8 but undecided on the 45/1.8 or 60 macro, decisions, decisions ;)

Think the above pretty much complete the kit I will be using.

had read some review bout this lens
it's a great lens and kinda usefull, i can said this is somekind of event lens

If u can put some distance btn yourself and the subject, it can be applied to landscape, capitalising on the sharpness. The 75mm f1.8 that is ...

And I should have used a tripod ;)

I think at this point it's def the following :

12-35 2.8
7-14 4
20 1.7

Standby the 75-300 for wildlife etc.

Mine is almost the same except I have the 25 1.4. I am seriously considering the 75 1.8 right now.

I have the 12 2, 25 1.4 and the 45 1.8. I thk they are great lens really but they dun make it to the top 3 which I bring on my travels bec of the focal length or the focal length limitation.

Mine will be mostly those prime and 1 super tele... Currently, most used will be oly 60 for macro, oly 75mm, panny 100-300mm for birdie... But, lately i m hooked with the legacy asahi smc takumar 50mm f1.4, with its incredible rounded bokeh... Used it with a m42 to m4/3 adapter in manual focus... It is so smooth...

For my recent 3 weeks Nepal trip...I brought along 25/f1.4, 7-14/F4.0 and 14-140.

When I am in Singapore, I usually just bring along 25/F1.4 and 45/F1.8.
