Hi Jeannie,

Try checking photo.net. They have some good reviews on canon equipment. I think some are closed now. 100 mm is afaik supposed to be good for portraits. I am kind of new on this forum.

Personally, I prefer canon. Never tried Nikon. Nikon and Canon both have good range of lens.

In some aspects, Canon might be better in lens category for certain features ( This might not be true today). It again depends on ur needs.

you might want to try renting out camera and lens from rental store. u cud get a feel for urself and decide what u want.

take photos of what u want and see quality for urself.

what conditions of light would u like to shoot? Indoor / outdoor

decide based on that.

u can check out www.adorama.com or bhphotovideo.com for prices. they are pretty good.
I dont know abt singapore shops and their prices. please excuse me if there are better choices. I get my stuff from the above two places (US)
