Kai Wen has bathed in arsenic-contaminated water, travelled to the arctic's edge, and slept in Asia's largest slum, all in the name of telling stories. Through his photographs, he hopes to better understand the human condition.
Based in Singapore as a freelance documentary photographer, Kai Wen finds time to pursue his personal work, dealing with issues of environmental destruction and how it affects society at large. He picked up aerial videography in 2014, using quadcopters to document melting sea ice at the arctics edge in Manitoba, Canada. Since then, he has also investigated how illegal farming in Cameron Highlands has led to increased flooding disasters in Pahang, Malaysia.
Kai Wens works have appeared in local publications such as The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, and MyPaper.
