I think you'll need an ultimate photographer ... otherwise the ultimate camera will only produce mediocre pictures in the hands of a novice ...

unless the ultimate cam does auto composition... u just literally P&S

How come no one mentioned 3D capability? How about Nuclear proof (at least emp proof) and disaster proof.

Another one... contrast ratio from the brightness of N-explosion to NV sensitivity.

whether its plastic, titanium, exotic alloy of any sort, drop the d70 or D2x from your desk both will die. Lenses are more important than the body to me...

for me,my ultimatedlsr will be @ iso 100 with not greedy, 12mp which is able to print up to 30 by 40 inches-tack sharp and
dream on...................25 fps @ f22 with studio flash ability that case do studio take me less than 5mins for all couple, rest of the images can be re edited byps!!!no missed expression can escape 25fps!!!! :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Yes but think of the possibilites.... Perfectly captured camera shake, missing tops of heads and completely out of focus uncomposed holiday snaps all with no noise and printable up to 1 mile by 1 mile with no noticeable pixilation!!! ;)

Apart from anti-gravity mechanism (no tripod needed)....
Why dont they add 2x 4gig memory chips in RAID config directly to the CMOS/CCD.
Still allowing external cards.

Even 1 high speed 4gig internal memory would be nice.

Oh, just as a simple additional, it would be the ability to see and shoot into the future.

Cheers

i dont care what features they incorporate..best will be if the SLR makers can come up with a way to cut cost so that the price that ends up on the consumer will be much less. for example imagine the prices of each and every L lens price come down by 50% :D

:bsmilie: :bsmilie:... that is a good one....

Extremely sensitive sensor with ISO 100000. No need to use big large aperature lens. Just f5.6 is enough. Allow taking picture in low light condition without flash.
Automatic geometrical correction. No need to design complex rectilinear lens
Automatic chromatic correction. No need to use SD, ED or APO lens
Electronic stablisation to allow use of 1 sec handheld shutter speed at 1000mm
40MP, have 3x digital zoom and still have 5MP at 3x digital zoom
3D mode with 20MP x 2
Extended dynamic range to capture true 16 bit dynamic range.
5 inch display using flexible display unit. display rollout when necessary. Display feature 3D viewing.
Eye control focus and spot metering.

eye control from canon, 22 mp and 40 FPS. build-in lens from 18- 300 mm @ f2.8 . build in vr & AFS. ISO start from 100 - 3200. (noise free). EV -3.. ultra low light shooting mode. night vision shooting mode like some of the sony cam. MAg body and a contact grip like the minoaltafocus cam 2500.

A new SB900 with a Metz flash head and uses Metz power pack . 2 Inch LCD .

i thin that's all liao.. to me it already very good already .. and of course it must cost arod USD 1990..

Medium format resolution.
Dynamic range more than that of the eye. Metering will be redundant. It will capture every detail that we see and then some.

Also make wall size prints dirt cheap. Can print posters at home.

ultimate DSLR is nothing...
making the ultimate printer to get the ultimate printout is the real problem.

Wah!!!!! If this really happens, all those really great professional photographers will sure go out of business man!! Can you imagine that!!

Hmmm, I have an impression that a LightJet would be close to perfection?

High end DSLR, require high end lens.

This would thus require a high end eCinema LCD display with high end graphics card. Dual XEON/Anthlon CPUs with at least 4 GB of high speed RAM, RAID 0+1 SATA drives. Properly calibrated and profiled. This is to do justice to your lens and DSLR. All this is almost as expensive as your above camera gear.

Then we the above mentioned printers which I don't know but assume is also very expensive.

So not only must we dream of our high end DSLR, dont forget the lens, CPU/Display and printers too!

Ouch! Need to buy more TOTO ;)

I started this thread back in February...nice to see it's still going...and some very interesting suggestions.....

so here's another from me.. How about a 10mm - 1000mm zoom lens, F1.2 across the whole 'internally contained' zoom range, fitting into a lens size of say a 50mm F1.8 (which doesn't make your camera tip over like the 18 -70 kit lens) abd YES a bloody good printer that can print 5ft x 4ft Images, with colour as you want, and you still can't see a pixel under a magnifying glass!!!

;)

hehehe :P lemme contribute *btw, b4 i continue.. seems like all the damn old threads all coming out eh?*

10-1000mm f/1.2 (compact and lightweight)
