The Speak Mandarin Campaign by "Promote Mandarin Council" is already very successful!

Really meh? I see most people just speaking in a mix of Singlish and Hokkien (and a bit of Mandarin) leh.

In fact, it's more efficient. Instead of saying something like "这样不行!" can just say "buay sai lah!"

That's the old generation people. The new generation people are getting them right. Not easy to get 100%. At least both campaigns are successful at around 70-80%

Relax lah bro, nobody here is flaming anyone. I was just kidding man. But text on the net can't convey any context or emotions, so I suppose I sounded like I had something against you. It would be interesting though, if a karang guni came up to your door and started asking for newspapers in Queen's English.

"good day mi'lady. mayhaps i can increase the weight of your purse when i purchase ye olde papers fer reading. tis fer a good cause! fer we recycle ye olde papers for water closet arse wipers"

:bsmilie:

Eh I think this has been discussed in The Photo Biz before?

I think one of the CSers here suggested charging a flat rate + hourly rate. Flat rate being "creative fee", which is your total equipment cost, marked up, then divided by the number of jobs you want to take up in a year. Hourly rate will cover your time spent shooting and PPing, etc (you have a day job, so this hourly rate would be the hourly rate you derive from your salary from your day job, or marked up a bit).

You could also do a package rate, like a certain rate for a, say, 4 hour event, and surcharges after that. Can also charge misc surcharges like after 10/11 pm, before 6 am events charge more etc.

It's up to you how much you charge and how you charge, but generally you just want to make sure you cover your opportunity costs of taking up the shoot (a day's salary from your day job, cost of taking leave, travelling time, time spent on PPing etc.), and your accounting costs (food, travel expenses, equipment etc)
