Re-use them... by converting your D5000 to infrared, and your 55-200 is a good lens for IR

I heard the newer Nikon cameras are not so good in IR though...not too sure about that. Anyway my style's more of wide than tele.

impossible is only if you're shooting IR without modification.

Your D5000 seriously need to be 'operated' to remove the strong anti-uv/ir glass, and be replaced with IR glass.

You can PM fatigue, our IR-engineer for your D5000's operation.

Yup I know you have to remove the IR filter, but I've heard that even after removing the IR filter, the D5000 still can't really produce good IR photos.
