yos. just came back from shooting stuff and discovered a few nifty tricks.

any one of u owns a stofen omnibounce? the omnibounce is designed to be neutral color: IE it doesnt affect color of the flash.
by the same logic, if it lets light through, unmodified in its temperature, i can use it to shoot the ambient lighting, and using the resultant color cast as a custom white balance, correct for the color cast.

and guess what. it works! helps myself save another 100 bucks
