The Pentax K1 Thread! - Post all your K1 picts and impressions

nice series of shots, yama..

So is camera HRD for some of the landscape shot?

Damn.. i must ignore the call of a FA43. I do not need one.....X100

nope..i din use HDR for the shots..but i did bump up the vibrance and saturation in post processing..think i might have use GND during post processing as well..

and you dun hv the FA43?!?!? :o

Continue of last Saturday nice sunrise taken at punggol...

Tested with Sigma 10-20 yesterday, the lens is partially FF with serious vignetting.
I have a choice to shoot at cropped mode of 4800x3200 pixels or partial FF?
i took 1 shot @10mm crop mode for comparison, another shot @12mm partial FF mode. After cropping and removing the vignetting I got the final image wider than 10mm crop and resolution of 6122x4165 pixels, much higher than 10mm cropped with resolution of 4800x3200

Too bad yesterday was low tide and the weather was not good, too cloudy and no bright sun and it rained after 10mins

Wow very dry weather...low tide. Thumbs up

Good to know...great job pentax!

extracted from website

"In conclusion, the K-1 gives one of the best Raw dynamic range results we've ever seen, when shooting in single shot mode and absolutely outstanding results in circumstances where you can use the pixel shift mode. The multiple sampling of the same scene effectively gives a 2EV dynamic range boost, meaning it out-performs both the D810 and the 645Z by a comfortable margin. Less noise (though multiple captures) and multiple 14-bit values at every pixel mean it can give outstanding levels of DR wherever you can use the Pixel Shift mode."

Thanks for the wonderful test.
What do you think about the IQ on the edges of the 10-20 at 12mm after crop?

If its usable from 12mm-20mm, or even 15mm-20mm, its already a great option considering size/weight/price.

oo thanks for sharing! hhehe.

nope, i dont have FA43. :)

not sure I understand the technology and usefulness on pixel shift. Appreciate someone can confirm my understanding ?

it is somewhat similar to olympus pixel shift where one click on shutter, the camera would capture 4 images and combine into one. hence, we can shoot low light with higher ISO , and with less noise.

it would be useful for landscape (not moving subject) but less useful for moving subject ??

In the case of the K1 the images are shifted by 1 pixel before the stacked images are processed. Pentax claims that the processor is able to discern areas where there is movement to some degree. How useful this technology for the average shooter is still remains to be seen. :)

Thx ken. Hope to join u for cityscape snapping...u got alot great snap of that area. :)

Wow very dry weather...low tide. Thumbs up

Thanks Joe. I'm running out of places to shoot, too many of "that place". If you have good shooting location especially from high shoot down cityscape jio me. :D

To me after the crop, the image quality still looks good.
Sure shooting at FF mode and crop/remove vignetting is a better option than shooting at crop mode, just that 2 additional steps is needed to usual workflow.

oo thanks for sharing. looks like having an option to choose crop or FF mode is good :)

Zeiss 28..

Don't think too much.. get the K1!

I'm thinking of doing this too, perhaps at a rate of one a month.
But it has to be after Bali which is end of this month.

Thanks Franz. :)

Now I rarely shoot birds locally as can be seen yesterday was my 1st birding shoot. :embrass:
Not sure when is my next birding shoot, probably if there's nice migratory birds landed at Singapore.
Is your fren Simone3399 also a Pentax shooter?

Hi Ken ,

Yes, he is the one , using K-1 . He was keen to buy the Pentax 150 - 450 .. ( I think this range ). I suggested he seek your opinion first.
