Thanks to this thread, I was inspired to get a FA50.
I originally bought one years back, foolishly sold it off, then it went up in price, so I never got one back.
Lived with FA43ltd and the many other MF 50's I have.
I certainly see no wrong in its sharpness. (At f4)

Hi everyone, I love this thread. Can anyone recommend me a prime lens under $200? I am using a Pentax K-r. Looking for some value for money, with auto focus and reasonable weight. I'm fine with 2nd lens as well. Thanks in advance, hope I'm posting in the right thread and much appreciated.

no love for the Pentax-A 50mm f1.2 ? just 'cause its *officially* out of production

If so, I think I will wait for a properly priced one to come along. No point paying for the equivalent of a DA*55/1.4 when the copy has even the tiniest mark on it. :/

and how much would you pay for a mint condition copy? 'cause i got mine NIB in Tokyo in 2011 - after the lens was supposed to have been discontinued. not sure how it works but rumor has it that a few 'new' copies of this lens appear on the JP market every year - definitely not old stock as they they bear the Made In Vietnam stamp. Definitely official 'cause I brought mine down to Pentax Square for a check up and it passed with flying colours
Not cheap though - think it cost me close to $900 SGD? Was just so happy to track one down that adrenaline may have overridden common sense

Did it many, many, many times before with my collection. You don't wanna know how much i spent so far on my collection. But anyways, it is a wonderful lens i must say, only that it cannot be almost same price as something which can be had newer.

With 2 pair of eyes looking over the usual places for the lens, I'm sure you can find one at a good price in time (before the FF arrives and jack up prices of course).

Eh? Ooops! Used my wife's acc on the iPad instead... LoL! But 2 pairs? No la! 1 pair, just myself... No longer as intense though.. Haha! Just relax and hope lo~ ;D
But having a feel of your medium format sure is "dangerous"..
