yes, first and foremost, $ is the main factor in the DSLR route. getting the body is only the first small step, its the lenses that make the picture. well, considering that we all are into it as a lifelong hobby, it does take some serious sacrifice on other expenses to feed yr hobby. as they say, "if you want it hard enough, you will get it. matter of time". at its most basic level, get the body and a 50mm f/1.8 lens (i know, 50mm becomes 80mm at 1.6X digital conversion factor..) and live with the built-in flash. CF card we already have, then slowly build up on yr system from there. at least you don't have to buy film and printing costs are reasonably cheap. its only human to be happy with what you have only until you see something better.
