Expensive camera does not = better pictures.

Ahhh... That statement not exactly correct... with a better camera, you'll miss less moments... Guess the 1Dmk2's 8fps really helps those who don't usually get the 'moment' shots.. :D

True also in a sense if you're talking about taking sports, candids or anything that moves. But I still consider myself a conservative photographer (coming from years of film background), my F828 cannot machine gun so much, the most is 2.5fps up to 7 frames at any one time. Wish can have a bigger and faster buffer. ;)

 I wanna join but no $$$. Patience.. patience for the budget one to come out.

Cost is definately an issue! Getting a DSLR with a couple of good lenses (eg.macro, telephoto) and accessories will easily set me back by about $8K for a start. Just as we are all tempted by the price of a DSLR body, we must not forget the additional investment needed as part of the DSLR journey.

yes, first and foremost, $ is the main factor in the DSLR route. getting the body is only the first small step, its the lenses that make the picture. well, considering that we all are into it as a lifelong hobby, it does take some serious sacrifice on other expenses to feed yr hobby. as they say, "if you want it hard enough, you will get it. matter of time". at its most basic level, get the body and a 50mm f/1.8 lens (i know, 50mm becomes 80mm at 1.6X digital conversion factor..) and live with the built-in flash. CF card we already have, then slowly build up on yr system from there. at least you don't have to buy film and printing costs are reasonably cheap. its only human to be happy with what you have only until you see something better.

If Sony comes out with a DSLR, nobody would buy it. You buy into a DSLR system to get access to the accessories and lenses. Nikon and Canon both have astonishing depth. Even smaller companies like Pentax, Minolta, and Olympus have a huge head start over Sony.

If Sony wants to get into the DSLR business then it should license either the F-mount or EF-mount to persuade people that their body is a worthy alternative.

I don't think Sony will go into the DSLR market, but IF they do in the future, they might have their own mount (judging from Sony always like exclusive stuff) or the other option is the 4/3 system, currently use by Olympus and a few other licensees.

if Sony wanna go DSLR, they sure partner with Carl Zeiss... den u have contax stuff interchangable... den see how they can 'swivel' the mirror... ultimate DSLR..

that is a very likely option. I believe Sony will push on in this growing market..
who would want to loose up espcially Big players in this field.???
