 Nikon still don't have 70-200 f4 VR, great to release,
light weight & cheaper than f2.8, can take on the canon f4

yes... i'm still burning incense and sacrificing goats to the nikon gods every nite for a f4 zoom... like can they pls replace the 24-120 VR into a 24-120/f4?

no luck yet.. mebbe time to upgrade the goats to bulls...

while the charts tells us one thing, i wonder if it is really a significant difference to the naked eye without pixel peeping...

D3X users will definitely welcome the difference. ;p

Joe McNally will be happy to test it.

Any idea when will it be out on the market?

time to keep my cult afs 55-200mm f4-5.6 non-VR

it's proven to be a value-4-$ lens

Yeah, I love my 55-200mm VR lens. Sharp throughout the entire range. But, I am craving for this new lens. I think chances are that I will buy it with my bonus.

i am loving it..

anybody like to have my 7 mths old 70-200 for sale?

Actually,
I cannot imagine giving up any of my current gears to switch to something that is comparable in specifications.

Why would anyone wanna do it?

Regards

i'm sure this will be another kick-a55 lens from nikon. but for those who already have the old 70-200, IMO, i dun think it is really worth an upgrade unless you happen to like to print A0 all the time..

I will wait for 2nd batch ,, see if they improve over at the 70mm range ..

Maybe it's ime to replace the 80-200 f2.8 with this baby;)

but i still think the 80-200 is a great lens,

the 70-200 is too expensive IMO.

the 80-200 does whatever the 70-200 can, just minus the VR.

i guess i can live without the VR, so the 80-200 suits me just fine:)

Anyone has any idea what is the 3rd ring near the optics for? To replace the button for autofocus lock?

1. Zoom ring
2. Manual focus ring
3. ????

Likely to be just a grip?

SHould be for gripping. Lens like the 200mm F2, 300mm F2.8 have the same thing too.

Not replacing mine, wait for a couple of years first.

Does this means the old 70-200 stock going to be on sale?????

If they do, it will be another version, not another batch. ;p

Or will it be just some minor tweaks that they can do second batch and recall the first batch for adjustments, instead of creating a whole second version?
