The Mac Thread (Apple related Stuff)

Oh, there is one, but it was meant to be released with the new MacBook Pro series from Tuesday. I'm not sure whether it's ready yet for S'pore, but it's apparently complete and handles audio and video.
Thanks, I found where it was referenced.

But now I start to wonder if this is only meant for the newer MacBook Pro 2010 series and not the older 2009 platforms.. iMAC included.

Oh well.

for IM+, you can exit the application and shows that u are still online.

When someone send u message it will get push to your iphone. Then you can start the client and chat.

As long as the client is running and on 3G the battery will drain big time.

The weaker the signal, the more battery needed to transmit too.
I have weak 3G signal at work (in some areas it just won't work), so I switch it off and use 2G network. It is slower, but uses less battery. Any of those chat apps that use network will rapidly reduce battery life with constant transmissions to tell you that someone is typing, and checking network status etc.

Same goes with receiving emails, this was a major battery drain for a friend of mine who was receiving large quantities of work email over 2G.

Sim Lim Square is selling iPad for SGD 1,200 (approx). I go see see look look and touch touch.

iPad looks like an iPhone kept in front of a magnifying glass.

Hi, need apple / imac expert here. Till date, no imac/Apple sale staff can answer my question. As a photographer, beside storing my photos in my external hard disk. I also drag albums out to iphoto so that it is easier for me to view and put pictures out.

However the photos in my iphoto eat up alot of memory space. Some told me to drag photos / albums from external hard disk so that space will use from the exterior hard disk, however it's not true.

Anyone can help beside deleting the photos from iphoto?

Thanks!

try moving your iphoto library to the external hard disk. to do this shutdown iphoto and copy/move your iphoto library to your external drive. then relaunch iphoto while holding down option key. it will ask you where your library is.

note that once you have done this, in future you need to have your external drive connected before you launch iphoto, otherwise i think it will create a new library in your pictures folder again.

You've been looking in the wrong places. You already mentioned sales staff :bsmilie:

Alternatively, try using Aperture or Lightroom to manage your files, especially if you work with camera RAW files all the time.

iPhoto is more targeted towards the beginners-advanced amateurs.

Apple is taking way too long to update their monitor line. In fact their 'pro' division has been neglected for quite some time already. The 24" LED Cinema Display is a joke. Sigh... Apple....

Was waiting for the new display heard news that new line coming but then I really wanted to have dual displays and went ahead and bought the Dell IPS Panel (luckily I got no tinit issues). However, placing the Dell monitor against the iMAC screen it is still no where near as good as the iMAC. Care to share why the 24" ACD is a joke? I almost thought for getting this one but the price point deters me a bit, thus I went ahead and got the one from Dell.

iMac ;)

I've seen plenty of lower-priced monitors that supposedly are as good as Apple's but they never seem to be that good. All those that are good enough tend to be really expensive. Some are even more expensive than what Apple charges.

Are you sure the iMac screen is that good? I personally think the Dells are much much better. I have the U2410 and the Apple LED Cinema Display. Side by side: The Dell gives me accurate colours, have better backlight control and the matte screen helps to reduce the glare.

Why the Apple LED Cinema Display is a joke? Glossy screen (i.e you have to turn up the brightness to counter the ambient light, no good for the eyes in the long run). No way to make colour adjustments. Backlight bleeding is terrible. Price.

I sold the LED Cinema Display after two weeks of using it. No offense but Apple QC can be quite a joke for their pro line sometimes. A good example: It took them one bloody year to fix an audio issue for the Mac Pro line.

However, I am not losing faith because I invested so much money in Apple already. I can only pray and hope that their newer products are not sucky as their previous ones.

Cheers.

oic, you don't like the glossy screen. I on the other hand liked it. I have the same Dell U2410 placed side by side with iMac 21.5" to me iMAC beats it. The blacks and the whites were much deeper 9for lack of better choiced words) and it appears nicer.

But I am a novice so don't take my word whole.

I guess your priorities are much different from mine. No doubt the blacks arent that deep for the Dell but that is of no concern to me unless I am a movie buff. For the price I paid, I must say the Dell are the best bang for the buck in terms of price and performance. I can't say much about Apple's display except for being overpriced, lacking features and the 'nice' factor.

For a display that costs 1.5K, I'd prefer get something that suits my needs. Cheers.

I see your gripe now... I too was surprised that the ACD don't even have HDMI port, lacking features... I agree.
