The Mac Thread (Apple related Stuff)

I must be the only dude with a mac pro nehalem around here...

I have two dead PowerMacs, do they count? :bsmilie:

I switched to a PowerBook years ago because I needed to work outside. It's a problem to take a Mac Pro with you, if you didn't know that.

Lost my iPhone 3GS White 32GB today.. sigh. duno if singtel will allow me to buy an iphone wo signing plan now..

ermm just a quick silly question...

i find the 160G hdd too pathetic (after installing XP using 32G i only left 80G for my mac os) for my new macbook...

any issues if i buy a 500G (7200rpm) hdd from sim lim and fix it myself?

sorry for this noob question cos i am very noob on mac systems haha... ;p

Aiyoh... sorry to hear about that.
I just got back and just discovered this wonderful thread.
I am signing in and locking onto this... as I am quite a new user of MacBook Pro. Haven't dare to even try out the many other applications on it yet.
Didn't even dare to buy the latest Snow Leopard. Still using the old OSX.

no issues, other than are you comfortable doing it yourself? it's not that difficult but if you not sure, may i suggest you buy from maybe SGL (sim lim sq 2nd floor, near overhead bridge) and ask the kind lady to install for you.

no issues for me... i have done my own upgrades on my intel laptops before, i guess the theory should be the same. :D

btw i read in hwz forums, WD hdd is recommended. u got any recommendations?

get wd if it makes you feel more comfortable. otherwise just go with the flavour of the month. from my experience, hdd quality varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, month to month, year to year.

I'm thinking of upgrading my macpro graphic card. can anyone recommendation a decent one which I can do HD movie edition and playback? what model and what price? can I just buy 3rd party card or I must buy from apple or AD? I have a 2.66ghz intel based duo core, tks

PowerMacs? Those are ancient stuff my friend... hehe...

Only a crazy bugger would carry around a Mac Pro everywhere. My ass is usually stuck to the chair so my machine don't need to go anywhere. LOL!

i would say your mileage may vary. in general i would say no since video cards for mac usually have a different firmware which is required during booting.

see here for more info.

Are you already on the Snow Leopard, if I may ask?
You would advise me to go ahead and get it?
