The kind of attitude growing here

How about "how do I switch on my camera lols? I don't really know what model number it is heeheex?"

Please give a smart answer to this smart question. :bsmilie:

Find me the thread.

And don't create it just for the sake of proving the existence of such questions.

I find that there is nothing wrong with asking "newbies" or anyone to (google) search for their answers as long as everyone is polite??? And of course, if the TS has shown some effort in (google) searching for some answer BEFORE posting his/her questions or doubts, I believe people here are kind enough to reply with decent opinions and further help.

With that said, there are plenty of help floating around in the net, some people READ but due to differing explanations and possibly bias from the person writing the article, they can't understand what there are so many variation to 1 problem? Thus they come to a forum and ask for help, and opinions of people with more experience than himself. This kinda TS, should not be shot down and set on flames right? :)

But of course, there is this other kind of person, who ASSUME that they won't understand what's written on the net, so they DON'T bother to read before posting their questions here. This, undoubtedly, would invite some unfriendly remarks...

So, it's back to "if you've nothing nice/constructive to say, you can just move on to the next thread." :p

I agree with those who advocate: if you want to help, reply. If you don't want, just ignore the thread.

You'll be surprised how easy this can be done - if you even try.

Find me the thread.

Actually my suggestion to a lot of these "make Clubsnap friendlier" advocates is to be the change you want to see. Want Clubsnap to be newbie friendly? Take the time to lambast the people you think are overly harsh, while providing a solution for the people who are confused (Because blasting them just helps no one but yourself feel good)... Rather than sit around on a high armchair, and sit there and talk shop without doing anything - nothing is going to change that way, except one more thread with one more complaint, and the world moves on the way it does even without your 5 cents 10 cents.

Ask yourself today - have you helped anyone out in your 2 years, 5 years here? How many bad examples have you seen - have you provided a good example? Else you are no different from the person who says "eating shark's fin soup is very bad! So cruel to sharks", and then the very next day, goes to a Chinese restaurant and orders top grade shark's fin soup.

In any case, this is really a very dead horse, I've seen these threads pop up now and then, but I have never seen the vocal people do anything more than complain or make random attacks at the "Google is your best friend" gang. You think the situation is so bad, what's stopping you from making a difference, is the question I always wanted to ask. All talk no action.

Why don't you run a search on my nick and see my posts in which I offer my opinion? Where I could help, I do. And I practise what I preach - I don't think it's worth my time replying, I don't. I don't go around flaming others while having nothing positive to contribute.

In short: I do exactly what I say.

I don't profess to be the change-maker. And I can't do it by my own strength. I can easily get drowned by the saliva of clubsnap users if every one of them spit on me. I choose to practise what I preach and leave clubsnap as it is.

Very often, the one sitting on the moral high horse are the ones who run others down.

I don't want to do that because when I start commenting on others' actions, often they will get over-defensive because they already have a preformulated picture of themselves in their mind.

I have already done that before you even asked me to - it's the first thing I did - and I don't wish to comment, for the above reason. Like I said, my humble suggestion is to take away some of this time talking about people who won't really care, and invest it into more constructive purposes, such as answering people's questions here: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/forums/8-Newbies-Corner

You can advise about filters: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/threads/933929-Need-a-bit-of-advice-about-filters
You can advise about DOF: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/threads/934402-Blur-Picture
You can advise this guy why G11/12 doesn't matter as much as the photographer: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/threads/933707-Canon-PowerShot-G11-G12
If you know about ND filters you can advise this guy: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/threads/934329-Help-with-ND-Filters
If you know of places with traffic trails with a good vantage point you can tell him: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/thre...o-capture-light-trails-(of-vehicles)-at-night.
If you know how to cross process digitally you can tell him how: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/threads/934076-Question-regarding-photo-editing

Or you could sit here and engage me further, but I won't be here already. :) Cheers.

I could do all those - if I had the answers.

I don't have. So I don't give stupid comments. Or hit and run.

sigh... if you have nothing good to say, don't. no one is pointing a gun to your head to answer every question.

our mod, diver-hloc, has answered aptly. move on people. FAQ is not for you to vent your spleen or to carry on your vendettas/moral high-horsing.
