Hi, nice shot. Are you using the sony LA-EA1 adaptor for your beercan? If i'm not wrong, AF is not possible right?

tks bro this was taken at the zoo sadly halfway it rains so end up shooting flowers as most animals hide away... I love the beercan thats why even if it's heavy it's almost always in my back-pack

ther's another flora photo I've posted bro but using Minolta 28-135 to the other thread cant post here as this is for beercan only but here's the link http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6795591#post6795591

Yes, use adaptor and manual focus handheld at high shutter speed.

Hihi, I am asking on behalf of my bro using a Nex 5, he is interested in the "beer can" 70-210mm f4, but his doubt is whether the A to E mount adapter by Sony can allow the Nex 5 to have auto-focus motor running and aperture blade electronically controlled.

Bro, you'll need Alpha mount lense with either SAM or SSM in order to AF with the Nex as they do NOT have the built in AF motor in body.
The Beercan has the screw driven AF system which relies on the in body motor.

wow our 28-135 looks like twins, I am using also marumi filter also :bsmilie::bigeyes:

I think it might the one I sold you. My bad for forgetting to mention it was actually my ex :embrass:

Nope. The 28-135 is a nice lens, but "The Beercan" is only one lens - the 70-210 f/4. Also known by it's Leica name of the Leitz 70-210 f/4. ;)

Thanks for the reply, found the answer online in the update filmware pdf last night as well. Though there isn't AF, my bro is still considering the beercan :D.

Hi all,

I have a question after looking at so many nice beercan photos here.
How do u guys get tact sharp photos at 210mm F4?
I can't seem to get very sharp photos at 210 F4, even down stopping it the photos are not as sharp as photos below 150mm

Experts teach me pls...

no magic to it just make sure you follow the shutter speed and focal length rule of thumb even our Camera has SSS =) e.g. if you're at 210mm ensure your shutter speed atleast at 1/200sec with SSS on you could experiment lowering it see how steady your hands are...

or ( I hope not) your lens may have front or back focus problem... do some test put your cam on a tripod and put to M mode take a shot of e.g. batteries at different distance like the photo below when I was checking my Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 coz I thought the lens has back focus problem

keep all setting fixed just adjust the cam (panning) to AF to the items you wish to focus and use timer so you'll elliminate the shake that you may enduce when pressing the shutter button.

Post a picture please.
Sharpness is subjective, some will find the picture sharp while others will say it's not sharp.

First, ensure that your photos are not blur due to shaky hands. To be safe, make sure your shutter speeds are > 1.5xfocal length. i.e. if you are shooting at 200mm, make sure your speed is at least 1/300s.

Second, do a focus test by using a focus chart (google and print it out). And see if your AF module is working fine.

If both conditions are met and you are still getting blur images, you might have a bad copy of the beercan...
