berms should be ok, was dressed in that for the firewalking festival.. like zoomp advised, have footwear that's easily removable, and bring a bag to keep your footwear with u.. may be difficult to locate them otherwise if u leave it outside..

just finished editing my photos after waking up from a much needed nap. i think the pictures i caught on film will be quite disappointing. used up only 1 roll of superia1600 and about half a roll of solaris800. good thing i brought my lumix as a backup.

it was an eyeopening experience for me since it was my first time and all. and goodness the number of leicas i saw! making me envious. i really wanted to come up to any of em and ask permission to fondle their gear, but paiseh lah.

begin rant: equally large in numbers were the bruce gilden's of singapore with their strobes and machine gunning. cant fathom why anyone would strobe people in the faces. different strokes for different folks i guess.

i realised the RF people tended to move amongst the crowd, compose and shoot and move on. the telescopes tend to hog the prime spots and snap to their hearts content, ignoring other photogs attempt to get into position. kena shoved aside (albeit quite gently) quite a couple of times. /end rant.

if anyone's interested in my pics, you can check em out here on facebook. they were taken with my lumix g1 with minolta 50/1.7.

I got told off last year by this canadian guy that I was in his frame for every shot :dunno:

What can I do, 35mm full frame need to go near compared to a tele lens :dunno:

Thank god Wilfred told him to go fly kite...

+1:thumbsup:
Some photogs were extremely annoying and borderline rude with the devotees... People should realize it's a religious event not a carnival!

I left at 2pm last night because I could not get a decent shot without a big DSLR zoom in my frame...

I concur. They were just pushing themselves all over and you could see it fr the devotees they just wanted to kick them and their weird angles all over. I mean seriously. I'm standing there composing a shot. Then finally get it. Take a breath prevent anti shake. Smile at the nice frame and god damn it guess what pops in front of me and not only spoils my picture but pushes mr out of place? A Dslr with a user oblivious of his surroundings. Did this happen once? No. Twice? No. Less than 5 times? No. Endlessly instead at least 10. Seriously they need to learn to not jump in front of others and also care for the devotees a bit more. They aren't figures.

Sounds like it's worse than last year. Anyway, photos or not, it's still quite an experience to be there at that hour to witness the preparation for the event. Hope u guys had fun!!!

Most definitely. :) the event was most enjoyable. Its so colourful and full of just such daring and encouraging people to do so much for their religious respect. Definitely a great occasion which if you get the chance you should really go and witness. :)

I did enjoy the event like last year and I will definitely go back there next year but maybe without a camera, just to enjoy the atmosphere.

That bad this year?

All those guys with strobes/flashes are just plain disrespectful. The temple is not a studio.
