Hey guys,
just uploaded my photos on my flickr which can be found in my signature, hope you guys like them.
Cheers,
Amrit
just saw your pics amrit, the festival looks very different in the day then at night. but i like the colors in your album.
the challenges i guess are different for the devotees in the day and night. in the day the hot sun and weather.
just finished editing my photos after waking up from a much needed nap. i think the pictures i caught on film will be quite disappointing. used up only 1 roll of superia1600 and about half a roll of solaris800. good thing i brought my lumix as a backup.
it was an eyeopening experience for me since it was my first time and all. and goodness the number of leicas i saw! making me envious. i really wanted to come up to any of em and ask permission to fondle their gear, but paiseh lah.
begin rant: equally large in numbers were the bruce gilden's of singapore with their strobes and machine gunning. cant fathom why anyone would strobe people in the faces. different strokes for different folks i guess.
i realised the RF people tended to move amongst the crowd, compose and shoot and move on. the telescopes tend to hog the prime spots and snap to their hearts content, ignoring other photogs attempt to get into position. kena shoved aside (albeit quite gently) quite a couple of times. /end rant.
if anyone's interested in my pics, you can check em out here on facebook. they were taken with my lumix g1 with minolta 50/1.7.
All those guys with strobes/flashes are just plain disrespectful. The temple is not a studio.
Hey glad that you enjoyed your first thaipusam. Compared to last year, this year indeed was much better. Lesser people, more space to move plus the weather was really cooling
But with all due respect, although I cant speak for all of those who used strobes/flash/led, I must say not all of them treat the devotees like mere subjects. I managed to see Bananadiver in action, while he was using a mini LED light (prob for dramatic b/w pics) The way he approach and talk to the devotees is  friendly and upclose, really gd to see a master in action haha. But I cant say for all of them though..
Just woke up because I shot till 3pm lol, time to go thru the images. Anyway, despite going for the 2nd time. I'm still awed and amazed by the devotees' determination, courage and most of all, their friendliness and smiles!
Oppsss... Caught in action...
How did you know how I look like?you should come up and say a "hi"...
was having an off-day in shooting... Usually I am even more friendly...
No worries I think I saw your pic before in some other cs threads. Yeah sure perhaps next time in a less chaotic and busy place, had to bee on a constant lookout to make sure I dont block the devotees  And I saw afew rf guys also, including the founder of invisible photographer asia (iirc). Hope to see your pics soon![]()
I am not sure if anyone noticed that there is this pair of photographers. One person will be holding a offshoe flash at distance about 45cm (very close) from the person and the other photographer fired the camera head on. Well... I know they want to get the shot they desire but to such a intrusive and rude extent? :dunno:
Seems like alot of people are targetting arrowheads at DSLR users. While I must say not all DSLR photographers are like that. I saw quite a number used prime lenses without flash compared to last year.
