Terrex seized in HK

Actually most 'world leaders' don't give reasons or they give lies as a reason..
Remember 'weapons of mass destruction'?
Or in earlier times, some minor infringement led to WWII.
And an assassination led to WWI.
Hardly noble reasons for their actions.
Until today, China side still stay quiet about the real reasons for the seizure after the initial rhetoric.

What Singapore need is the actual reasons for the seizure, based on infringement of any local law, if any, and the way forward.

Singapore is a country that abide by international law as well as ensuring it's citizen to live by the law. Singapore may have err in this instances and just want to move on in a rational manner.

If China desires to be a world leader, it should set a good example.

All I see is one country trying the shove in their idealogy down the throats of another, albeit smaller country.
Now all looking at how good our Ministers can solve this. This one cannot sweep away until everyone forgets. Wonder what excuse can they make up.

I'm more interested what excuse can HongKong continue to give.... or in this case, NOT give. Most of us already made up our mind what is the 'real' reason. A Trump Presidency gives China the chance to at last flex its muscle towards the region... but H.k being a hub for World Trade Shipping transfer... it wouldn't look good for them if things start being detain without right or reason just on the whims of Beijing...

This is not the first time Singapore has stepped on China, be it intentionally or unintentionally.

Like all other times, it will be resolved eventually. No need to get too excited.

This a much different China. Much bolder, aggressive and a tad too arrogant.

They don't need anymore of Singapore's expertise to run an industrial park. Now they are so boastful with new fighter jets and an aircraft carrier. They are planning to send man missions to the moon.

They are so late to the party that when they arrive, must make a whoke lot of ruckus. Seems more like forcing us to bow to them.

Good that our "big brother" is busy with it's domestic issues and have kept quiet. Under the next administration, we should depend less on them for security as they might just abandon Asia.

For this round, the middle kingdom hides behind the Hongkee.

Look at the PRC's top 6 or 7 trading partners (2 of which are HKG and Taiwan) USA EU Japan ASEAN...you see where I am going with this? Hegema-bologna. Maybe in 50 years...maybe longer. So the question for PRC is you really want in the first world? If they are going to play ball okay. Reigniting their own little civil war ain't how you play ball. I think if I were in charge of SG I would demand my damn turtles back. Probably a good thing I'm not in charge. All that being said we all better buckle up soon because we have the south end of a north bound jack ass coming into office on the other side of the planet very soon. The alternative wasn't any better.

If PRC thinks they are going to be able to keep pushing at this point in history I feel they're in for a very rude awakening. Africa and Russia and Philippines aint going to get it either. They need to chill and bide their time. One child policy has led to an unhealthy dominance of testosterone in Chinese society I think.

Just to add one more little thing but a crucial fact. No one country will ever dominate the world or I daresay a region of the world other than their own...it is called nuclear weapons. Ask an Israeli about this tiny fact. Surrounded by enemies, a fighter jet can overrun the entire country in about two minutes, and one promise about the promised land you can take to the bank - if the Jews can't keep it then no one else will have it either...because it will glow and will not support life. :)

I whole heartedly agree on this. I have PRC colleagues at work for almost 20years now and find they have a typical trait which I sense, derived from being an only child. Now calculate this by a billion.

China has now seized a USN drone 150 miles from Scarborough. So now the Dragon owns the whole ocean I guess. Media over here is whispering it is an act of war.

Well the POTUS has spoke. He has a cool head. Looks like it is not going to be a big deal. Thank God.

But what would the 'New' POTUS said and think/do (or didn't think/do) is the thing that should worry us...

Thank you for not letting another Donald Trump run Little Red Dot. :bsmilie:

What's wrong with Trump?

It seems that the mainstream media which is highly controlled are portraying him as a devil, Satan, etc.

The world will never change if there is no such man appeared like Trump. Everything else will be status quo.

But the question is.... is it a change for the better... or a change for the worst ??

Does changing the status quo meant it will definitely be for the better ?? Or could it be for the worst... ??

I don't need the media to judge Trump.

Those words coming out of his mouth during US Presidential campaigns is proof enough for me.

People should be smarter in this time & age. But I can't understand his supporters.
I can only guess they know not about current world events.

In this age of social media & technology? Must be an ignorant lot.

Its more than his words... his recent action on appointing wall street 'insiders' to take over powerful position in office.. or climate change deniers in to appointment for the environment... that really scares me...

If 'Draining the swamp' = to filling position with wall streets insiders... then I can see where the change is going to lead...

And what's wrong with Ferdinand Marcos, Idi Amin, Muammar Gaddafi etc? :)

You are saying that Trump is the same as those names. Only time will tell.

Only US people can answer this question. We are outsiders.

It is very interesting that given the state of the economy of the US, why are there so many supporters for Trump?

US economy is almost at full employment, strong GDP growth, unemployment is very low, etc. Why are there so many unhappy US people who wanted a change?

Most polls said that Trump will be defeated terribly. The markets did not factor in Trump's victory at all.

In the end, what happened? Trump gotten more than 270 electoral votes needed.

Those supporters are ignorant? Where is your source?

That's why we should not speculate, etc as we don't live in the US. We do not know the actual ground.

Look at Singapore political system, it is almost the same. the GRC system ensure that the party will win majority seats in the parliament despite 40% of the votes did not go to the incumbent party.
