anyone tried TC on a 55-250IS? what brand offers the best optical performance at 1.4x?

Don't think its possible. The lens has a part that sticks out at the back so can't attach any TC to it. Although I have tried a 55-250 IS -> extension tube -> TC -> camera before for some super macro shots. Not easy to use thou.

i'm using a 70-200 f/2.8 IS mark I version with Teleconverter EF 1.4x II, use it mainly for 280mm f/4 shots. Usually i stop down to f/5.6 for better image quality/sharpness. Rarely avoid using 98mm (wide end) when using the TC, cos you are better off if you remove it.

hi i got a Canon 70-200mm f/4L non-IS lens and
1)if i put a 2x Teleconvertor its will be 140-400mm?? i lost 2stop? so f/4 will become f/8?
2)if i put a 1.4x telecomvertor its will be 98-280mm? i lost 1stop? so f/4 will become f/5.6?
sorry i'm interested to know as i intent to get one 2x telecomvertor for my lens also. any recommand best fit teleconvertor(third party) for my lens? or can my lens even use teleconvertor?

yes, use on my 70-200 f4 before, become f5.6 no issue, now use on 70-200 f2.8 which equal to f3.5~4 too. many said 2x is not good, which might lost auto focus, may not be an issue if it is tripod mount, else, might have handshake problem. go get one, not that expensive for canon, cheaper with Kenko brand

So the result is I have to shoot at f5.6 or slower. I was shooting an aerial aerobatic display at the Singapore Airshow.
I find that the autofocus is hampered. Autofocusing is at about same speed, but hunting occurs very very frequently. Furthermore, the image quality produced, is severely degraded. Pictures don't even look like it came from a 70-200 f2.8.

Just tested a kenko 1.4 dgx with 100 400 at people's park earlier this evening. below is a shot straight from camera only with auto adjustment.
