Hmmm... it seems like I am the only one posting photos from the G1, am I on the wrong thread?

Anyway, in the beginning I was complaining about some flaring problems. However, after cleaning up my UV filter, I think the issue has been resolved.

I was wondering how the camera performs at night, so I went around taking some night shots. Here are the results.

Hi lightsabre,

WOW wow wow... SOLID bro..... I like this series very much. U are able to show the G1's impressive IQ.
Very nice colors & really really impressed by the IQ of G1.
Well done lightsabre
Well done PANASONIC!! Ha ha....

Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to consider a m43 section when the Olympus model is out.

Hi microcosm,

I think it would be good if we can have a thread like maybe "Picture taken by G1" or "Picture taken by micro 4/3" by now...

Just my personal point of view...
Why we need to wait for Olympus? It's not so fair to Panasonic. G1 also a m43 system.

If Olympus come out with their m43 before Panasonic, will u wait for Panasonic to release their camera before creating a m43 thread? :nono:

Some more we are sure that Olympus & Panasonic will come out with more m43 lenses & cameras in future, right?

Agreeee... Lets have a sticky at least only for pictures taken with mFT! Oly can join the same thread when they are ready :)

I thank you guys for your excitement and support for the m43 gallery. Currently I am looking at either having a subforum for m43 (pending the platform's longevity) or merge them all into one.

Or else, just simply post into the current photo thread and label them m43/G1/etc.

But remember, this is the equipement discussion section, and not the gallery section. I will rename the gallery-sample thread for you guys so that you can post your favourite G1 images there but please, don't end up making this section the gallery section as there are dedicated sections for gallery/image sharing purposes. We should only have ONE gallery thread within equipment discussion solely for the purpose of showing the image quality and colours of the particular brand of cameras and the images that it produces.

Hope you understand my concern as these were house rules set by the admin of ClubSNAP. Your cooperation is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Has anyone used any FT lens on the G1 yet?

How's the function ... and IQ :dunno:

It does make sense to have 2 separate galleries for FT and mFT pics

The Nikon subforum has 14 stickies so what is another one for the FT forum ;p

Another sub-forum for mFT? Prob not the better idea .... or just not yet ... as a FT user I am just as interested in mFT as FT as the fate of both lines are intertwined to a large extent

I object...soon there will be so many stickies that you'll have to go to the second page for messages! It's already a nuissence having to scroll down several screens just to see the messages.

 well done panasonic :D

So do we continue posting photos here or...

I think the galleries section doesn't have equipment categories, which is why some cameras such as LX3, FZ18/FZ28 and Canon EOS450D actually have threads for posting sample photos for those cameras. I started the "G1 Photos" thread thinking it is just like the other camera's photo thread.... Didn't realize it is going to be so complicated :dunno:

I can understand why .... how about substituting the "roll call" for a mFT gallery ;p

Keep the suggestions coming. Whether it gets adopted or not is one thing, but keep the ideas coming. But don't let this turn into an argument on what should be done. This is afterall, an admin and moderators' decision. Hope we can have that mutual respect for whatever decision that will be made.

OK guys? Thanks.

Well done.. Bro, ;)
U r the best moderator.. hee hee..

Thanks for changing the sticky thread: Olympus colors - Show Your Blues, Greens and Reds! to
Four Third Cameras Images - Show Your Blues, Greens and Reds!

This should be more proper. That means now this "Show Your Blues, Greens and Reds! " sticky thread is not limited to OLYMPUS user only.. :sticktong
Finally 4/3 section is more like a 4/3 section instead of Olympus section... :)
This is more fair to other non-Olympus users.. Thanks! Thanks!

I guess part of the reason for Nikon/Canon/Pentax etc subforums has to do with lenses, i.e. common lens mount. And this of course is the rational for the FT forum. Regardless whether it is an Oly or Panny body, they can both use the same lenses.

And now mFT. The mFT can use the FT lenses, albeit with an adapter but still it retains much of its functionality, I believe, so in the same spirit - keep the mFT within the FT forum

A further point is that the mFT shares the same sensors as FT; same sensor, same lenses ..... same forum ...:)

As for the pics, it show cases the lenses as well as the bodies. The mFT lenses are a different kettle of fish to the FT lenses so I guess a separate gallery is indeed warranted.

And yes, microcosm, you are mo-tak-teng

A super sharp 50/f2 sounds great ..... anyone?

I can imagine using it for shooting kids .... just no AF ... :dunno:

This thread is getting messy ... price, pics, mods, lenses, adapters .. even messages to moderators

My 2 cents - everything technical and everything else mFT in one thread just CMI :dunno:

As it is mFT has drawn a lot of new traffic to the FT forum so I see mFT as a great plus for the FT sub-forum in terms of advertising revenue so why not give mFT a gallery :dunno:

There are many who are just interested in mFT, not FT(they prob own some other equipment already) so why make them plough through the FT gallery if that is the only option now? This will turn off potential surfers and hence owners of mFT faster than you can say "micro four third" ....

And for those only interested only in some technical details, e.g. how is the EVF ... try going through the ONLY thread above and you'll see how frustrating that becomes .... :dunno:

You know something that we mods don't at ClubSNAP? What revenue?

In any case, let's look at the numbers before making any more decision. By ploughing through the threads, a newbie will actually understand the G1 a lot better.

I will still need some time to go through the various discussions to think of a better way to organise this section. With m43 thrown into the ring, there are so much more things happening.

In any case, let's see how things go before making any serious decisions.

drakon09 is still busy with his new baby and we will have to have a small mods meeting to decide on what to do.

Any interested people who can spend time online to take care of m43 section should it become a new section in Equipment Discussion? Just throwing out ideas too, not something set in stone.

Guys, you are just re-wording G1 as m43 since there is only one body (G1). Please don't try to make my life difficult.

Thanks for your understanding. Merging this with the current G1 thread.

Hi microcosm.

I would understand if a thread is posted on the wrong section and it is moved to the correct section, but I feel that doing too much of these merging of threads, albeit they are all about the G1, makes it a bit messy and difficult to read, not to mention, reply to.

Just as there is one Four Third section, and we understand now that micro Four Third falls under this also, and there are many many issues relating to the four third system, there isn't really a need to group, for example, all E-520 threads into one, would it?

This is the four third (incl. micro) section, and would only be expected to have multiple threads. Merging one thread of 30 posts with another thread of 30 posts and another thread of 30 posts into a single 90 post thread... somehow just seem confusing.

Or maybe it's just me and my personal preference. Just my 2c (by cash, no VISA). Have a good day ;)

Why is creating a super huge mega thread such a favourite thing to do in Singapore forums? It's a reason why I no longer visit places like PPCSG. I (and many others) don't like wading through 10 pages of different topics to find the topic I'm looking for.

Look, if a thread is about a single topic, let it stand. I disagree that a newbie has to plow through 10 pages (or more) of posts on differing topics. Ever read a book where the chapters have been cut and jumbled up? That's bad editing. This is no different. To put it in another way, it's easier to pick out information that is labelled into stand-alone segments than it is in one messy pile of everything.
