very clean pic indeed

Hi, I also got a red one and bought the other zoom lens too. I really like the camera and the pics are nice.

I got it at 988SGD with a 8GB Highspeed SD card from MScolor and of cos a lousy camera bag lol...

Have checked with Alanphoto too, its 940SGD but with a 4GB card.
An Ultra II 8G SDHC card is only $42. So it would appear that Alan Photo's would be the better deal... a free 4G card. ;)

LOl...this proved that I did not check the price of the card lol...Anyway its not a huge amount so I am ok with it;)

Before or after GST?
Was at AP and they say $940 before GST.

I have forgotten to ask the GST part.
Since you said is before GST, I guess GST applies at AP.

Another test shot using Aperture mode. I think its a little bit dark and blur, still playing with it...think need to read the manual now lol..

While it is easier for me to say "RTFM" :bsmilie: but in all honesty, if you are new to a platform, then it is worthwhile to have your camera beside you, and run through the functions page by page, using the manual as a guide. That way, you will learn the camera functions and also learn new capabilities with the new camera and discover interesting things you can do with the camera... the kind of thing you do on your off day in your free time... it will be very rewarding when you do so.

hope the manual isn't too thick... let us know how the menu interface is like :) didn't quite like the way my fz5 makes me go into multiple pages before i can set most options...

I am not sure of how the old Panny cameras are, but in the G1, there is a great function call Quick Menu (Qmenu) and one that also remembers your last few accessed functions of the camera, which I think is pretty good. The remaining "horsepower" for processing is allocated to better and faster reading and writing and processing of imaging data. Which I think is a good thing.

Agonizing of getting Panny G1 or 2nd hand Sony A200W or Canon 1000D kit ....any advice from experts out there, Thanks

What do you intend to shoot?
How familiar are you with DSLR?
How big is your hand? :)

Good thing is that FL36 or FL50 can be use on it too.

Personally having try the G1 with my FL36, I find that it is abit top heavy.... vertical shots are worse. Any comment on your FL50?

Yes you are right the user interface isn't too complicated and easy to understand.
But there are some icons in there I think I need to refer to the manual again haha...

Hmmm...I really don't know what is your needs and wants?

The experience on G1 is different from using an DSLR but not of a too much difference.
Its more of like using a normal point and shoot but with more capabilities of an DSLR.
Its a great camera to bring out if you do not want to bring your DSLR cos of the size.

Hmm...what do you mean by its abit heavy when using FL36? I think if FL50 it would be much more heavier. lol..

Read The F@#$ Manual ;)
Anyway I found the writeup from dpreview most useful for explaining the functions of this camera... for some strange reason.
