[ Tech ] - Sharing C-Mount (cine) lens' photos and gears on M43 bodies

Ok, just tried Nikon lenses on E-PL1, just mount and shoot.:)

Maybe you want to set your in body IS to match your lens focal length.

In the menu to set the mode for your IS, instead of pressing up or down, you press right to change your focal length, if I am not wrong.

Hi br0wnskinnedb0y! With the Navitar 25mm f0.95, would you mind posting a screengrab from the video ?
I am curious to see how much vignetting is there in the 16:9 crop from video.
Thanks!

I got it off ebay for about S$630. I managed to do it myself. I got some waterproof abrasive paper grade 60, 120, 300 and with some water, I slowly ground the focusing ring. I had to remove the focusing ring from the lens body first though. The end result is what you see below.

Now it's working! :)

hi,

quick question. i'm buying a c-mount adapter for m4/3. will any adapter be the same or is there anything i should look out for? TIA.

Hi guys just gottoen an old Kern 25mm f1.4 AR SWITAR and I cant seem to get those nice bokeh as the others with the same lens type :( (or maybe it's just me hehe)

Alsomy Kern minimum focus distance is only 1.5ft so good for portraits only. Will try to take more shot using it see if I could get those nice results as other in this thread:)

I just shot some foliage with Kodak Cine Ektar 63mm f2 and damn the bokeh is creamy, it reminds me of the Rokkor 58mm 1.2!

what's the minimum focusing distance does Kodak 63mm? Kern 25mm f1.4 is around 1.5ft good for portrait only but i have not taken anythinh with really god bokeh yet so far will try and shoot outside and compare it with my Oly prime 25mm f2.8 see how these two fares

Came across a few reasonably-priced c-mount lenses on B&H website. Wondering if anyone has tried them on a m43 camera?
(1) Pentax 50mm F1.4 (see http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/560281-REG/Pentax_C25011KP_C25011KP_1_C_Mount.html)

(2) Pentax 75 mm f/1.4 (see http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/414544-REG/Pentax_C27509KA_C27509KA_75_mm_f_1_4.html)

Also read somewhere that there will not be vignetting if the focal length is longer than 25mm, so I assume these lenses should do just fine on M43. But nonetheless, hoping to get some actual users' experience :)

yes anything above 25mm or 1" lens diameter shoudln't have vignetting.. my 25mm vignetting at f1.4 is not than bad but when you try to close the iris e.g. f8 you'll notice vignetting very heavy. not so sure how the 2" lens or 3" lens would fare.

BTW the photos I've posted I didn't do any cropping you cansee not much vignetting

I have the cosmicar 75mm 1.4 from ebay. it looks exactly the same as the pentax one from bnh. that is because pentax have been known to use the cosmicar name for their tv lens range.

good news is that it fits on most c-mount adapters for m43 and can work perfectly focussing to infinity, with full frame coverage. no worries.

its pretty sharp but not flat field. so if you are putting something in the corner of the frame, use the viewfinder and see that it is sharp at the corner. focusing with the center than re-composing may make the subject out of focus.

i am pretty impressed with the price performance. but for the price i paid which is less than us$100, not in pristine condition though.
however, today there are many 85mm 1.4 manual focus lenses like phoenix and samyang that are proven sharp. they should be less than us$300 new.

Hi. Thanks for the information.
I will need to improve my manual-focusing skills before getting the 75mm 1.4 though. :embrass:
