[ Tech ] - Sharing C-Mount (cine) lens' photos and gears on M43 bodies

At $25...just take a gamble.
I gotten a Cosmicar C-mount at S$25 from eBay last month but realized that with my RJ Adaptor, its Furthest focusing distance was only 60cm...i could only take macro shots with it. :(
Unless i spend some more money to file away the mount...but what for? :(
So its a gamble.
Those who have bought do let us know how did it go yar? :)

i am also looking at this lens..
wonder can trust this kinda 3rd party lens or not..

Very interesting... Does anyone have a C mount macro lens?

Hi there, I own one and below is a sample pic. No touch-up, just resizing in photoshop.

Hi Kree,
If you want, you can come and collect my Cosmicar C-mount that happens to "act" as a macro lens as mentioned.
I bought 2 from eBay...you can have one...just PM me.

Hi, wonder if I could trouble you, I have a E-P1, and I am wondering how does one take photo with a C mount lens mounted?

For example, what mode do you use to shot?

Aperture priority?
Manual focus?
What other settings do you need to do? Do we set focal length?
For E-P1, I supposed one focus via LCD?

Thanks .. just that I am keen on getting the Pentax 25mm c-mount from Chiif, just wanted to find out more before parting money on it. Thanks.

Hi,
I use a GF1...so i am not sure if my advise helps.
I choose "Shoot Without Lens" in menu.
Shot mostly in Aperture Priority Mode.
Its ALWAYS Manual Focus.
Focal Length and Focusing and F-stop are all done manually.
You can either focus with LCD (But i heard E-P1's LCD manual focusing steps are rather laborious) or you can get your ultra good E-P2's EVF
Hope this helps.

There are various approaches to shooting with a manual lens (doesn't matter if it's the Pentax 25/1.4 or something else).

If you put in Aperture priority, then you just need to dial the aperture on the lens and the camera auto adjusts shutter speed.
If you put in Shutter priority or Manual, then you have to adjust the aperture on the lens AND use the camera's dial to adjust shutter speed to get the correct exposure.

Depends on whether or not you trust the camera's meter. In my case, I've found that Aperture priority gives me enough control to pull off street shots quickly. Only go into Manual or Shutter if I am doing macro work where I have time to compose and make various adjustments.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing.

The mental block I have is on manual focus. I tried using my 17mm/f2.8 in manual focus mode and I have a lot of trouble getting my subject in focus. I seems to spend more time wondering if I am focusing correctly than concentrating on getting the right composition. Perhaps I need a lot more practice. I can actually see a lot of benefits of acquiring manual focus skill; the availability of some of the great manual focus lens is one such benefit.
