Hi Calvin.. yeah some blurring.. but its never easy to handle the manual lens. One trick I use is the mount of camera onto a firm tripod... switch to live view.. pan and frame what i want first... magnify the view and focus sharply at point of interest..

When u snap the shutter.. the framing is maintained but you just garanteed yourself a as sharp as possible take. Does it work for you??

Thank you Falconite for organising this outing. Other then the mosquitoes
:) it is really fun. Below are some of pictures I took. C&C are welcome.

Hi buttie.. you are rather careful with your shots.. they are very nice. Just one of the shot carry a little concern - its not straight... and if you need to slant a pic, slant it more so that it does not appear accidental (quote from other CSer to me in some of my pictures...)

Yeah, common problem, but I find it worth the note.

Post some blurry birds

thanks for viewing.

hahaha.. everyone has their share of blurry birds... not easy when they are smaller than a hand palm to start with. 2nd shot is quite nice but I found it a bit busy in the middle.

Yeah.. that is very true... I also have alot of blurry ones... but I have a old blurry one which is also shot at the Sungei Buloh Wetland last year... find it nice, so never throw away.. here goes :-

The pictures here are all awesome. I planned to go today but weather's no good.
So what is the best time to go to get those awesome bird pics?

Morning..as early as possible..cause when the weather gets too hot the birds will be hiding for shade..morning is also thier "feeding" time..so you can see more birds coming out to look for food.:)

That is personal preference. Some of us carry, some of us don't.

If your lens is like 400mm - 600mm, then you must tripod..

Those that had their camera and lens nicely mounted on the tripod get sturdier pics. Do use a tripod. :)

Last question before my quest. What focal range is suitable? I've got up to 300mm. If those fantastic pictures above needed more, I might consider renting.

SBWR is no different from any other location if you are consider shooting birds.

As a standard lens for shooting birds, the lens is 600mm F4 + 1.4TC ( of course you will need good tripod for this ). If you are considering wild life only, then you might use 600mm alone.

You will not find anyone in Singapore renting 600mm ( don't need to waste time searching for this ).

Since you will be going there for the first time, I will recommend that you bring along the longest lens that you have with you now. If you have tele-converters, bring them, you will need to use them for capturing birds at a distance.

It is not for anyone to advice what focal length you will need. It all depends on what you want to shoot or capture, and what is available there. You will have to make a trip there to find out for yourself what is there for you.

a last and most important word of advice,

BRING MOSQUITOE REPELLENT ...
