Hi,

This is a marsh sandpiper. Easy to mix up with the common greenshank. But the marsh sandpiper has a different feeding behaviour, more slender body and thinner bill. :)

Yeap.. thanks. Re-checked and u are right.

Nice shots!!!
#8 is a Cotton stainer :bsmilie:
#9, great angle, perhaps tweak the Curves since it's a bit underexposed ... I also saw a lot of noise, was it due to high ISO?

Thanks Feb, I think the ISO setting is at 800, and I didn't do PP except to crop the picture and brighten up the colours. Will try again for better result next run.

Thank you again.

hi Mendis,

thankyou very much for the identification. After google for about 15minutes in the web, and staring at the various pictures of a Marsh sandpiper and Greenshank. Seriously, they all look the same to me

bro Falconite,
can you tell the bird shown below is a Greenshank or a marsh sandpiper ?

Was inspired by this thread and tried to take some pics of heron but found that 250mm lens just not enough to capture them. Spend more time playing hide and seek with them instead :bsmilie:. Do any of you Tangshooters use teleconverters?

Wondering whether a teleconverter will help or really need a 400mm lens (which is too expensive and most likely too specialised for me) as one of you had used.

something is not right here , did he pruck the flower???

two200, I was using 70-300mm on DX.. max size, then crop... you lose some of the details but still good enough for me.

KO, hehehe... no lah... flower already on the ground.

I know what you mean... but I may be looking for an excuse... :sweatsm:
Seriously, sometimes (ok most times) the birds are so sensitive, and I just can't get close enough

Good to see a group of photograhers enjoying themselves at SBWR. We met that day, I was photographing a Malayan Water Monitor lizard eating a big fish. ;)
