Umbrella can get from $1 shop.

Lightstand should get from IKEA.

Which model is the lightstand? I cant find any lightstand on the ikea website. I am interested in getting one if it is heavy duty and unlike those normal flimsy ones. Thanks! :D

Kangz, it is a realistic idea to me as I have seen some nice light stands at Ikea although I have no idea if they are what you guys are looking for. I have some basic tools and it would be quite a possibility to make some adaptation if the item is deem appropriate.

No harm exploring actually.. just my 2 cents kontributionz.

.... you are serious..... UPZ for the DIY spirit.

I am currently working from home. One of my bedroom is a workshop basically. I have heavy benchvice, various saws, 4 feet drilling machine and plenty of drills available anytime.

However, when comes to some gadgets for photography, I still Buy Buy Buy...

I have tried making some of my own gadgets like shoulder rest, aluminium tripod with wheels, macro extension flash brackets etc... yes, you can use them, but considering the effort to make them and also to source for all the little little parts ... and the results are sometimes can be quite flimzy...( maybe my handycraft is not so KILAT ). When using such DIY tools, it will sometimes affects your shooting mood ( especiallly when you are shooting with some masters ). People will look at you in big big eye balls..... definately affects the shooting liao.

well, considering $50 to solve all the problem . I rather cash and carry..

Simple, Easy, Fast... solve the problem.

cheers,
Kang

WHERE IS EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Kang.. kekekekeke... you have a good place for any DIY junkie....benchvice and all....

I had no idea what's the cost of the light stand, tot it cost a bomb and it's hard to get, hence, DIY wouldn't be that unreasonable an option... kekekeke... however for $50, then that will be really too much trouble....:bsmilie:
