image appears very soft..maybe due to a not so good lens use for testing..
but tat day dinner, i try using MASter 5DMII wif a 16-35..i find images softer oso..

Typically some people shoot with softer settings... (neutral or faithful with lowered contrast and sharpness for portriates..) haa.. and its easier to work the RAW from there.. hmm i dun know

oic...all along tot 16-35 has much better optics than 17-40 & it is sharp wide open...

Yes buttie.. tried that on Naka's ex.. mind blowing difference... noteable not just marginal diff..

IMHO, Nikon zoom with Nano coating is definitely better. I had used both 24-70s.

As for primes, Canon is better due to their bigger apertures which Nikon still lacks in many of their Nikkor AF primes lineup. L primes are 1.4 or faster in the 24 to 85 focal length range. Fastest Nikon primes still in production today in the comparble range are 50F1.4 and 85F1.4. There used to be an AF28F1.4 but price is exorbitant iirc.

Cool info.. but must test apple to apple.. how to test 2 type of lens on one machine? The made of which will have a tech inclination to one of them anyway.. Just my 2cents worth...

sharp is a subjective word... :sweat:

it appears to be sharp to someone, but soft to another, and then low in contrast to someone else... I suppose Blazer standard is belly belly high... :think:

Yes.. sharp is subjective.. but D300 and D700 producing very good sharpness in the pic. Salivating.. But that is what we also noticed on the Fuji CCD's capability...

Haa.. I was mindful to say details when i last posted the picture below.. I can do with more sharpness....

Agree with you its difficult...its like the link I posted just now on D3x and A900 ISO comparison. D3x with AFS 24-70 vs A900 with Sonna-Vario (hope i get the spelling rite) 24-70 (is it a CZ lens?)...is it a fair comparison? becos IMHO, lens will come into play here even though both are 24-70...

Anyways, just soot more n be happy wif watever system we are using...

Agree with you its difficult...its like the link I posted just now on D3x and A900 ISO comparison. D3x with AFS 24-70 vs A900 with Sonna-Vario (hope i get the spelling rite) 24-70 (is it a CZ lens?)...is it a fair comparison? becos IMHO, lens will come into play here even though both are 24-70...

Anyways, just soot more n be happy wif watever system we are using...
