Wanted to join you butties for the orchid shoot but it was on a Monday and I couldn't take leave. :cry:
Soooooo, i went to Orchid Garden myself the following week.

Sharing one of my shots:

Too bad there's a curly extension that's in front of the center part of the orchid. I found it a bit distracting .. but .. errrhhhh .. cannot prune .. :sweat:

beautiful... you could try to crop some off the right hand side of the picture to see whether it is "more balanced", otherwise... it looks to me is another "Miss August" candidate for 2010 calendar.

the top half of the picture is fabulous... loved the color of the sky (2 sections) and the cityscape... you might wanna consider cropping the bottom 1/3rd off and see the effects.

could have zoom into the cityscape for the color intensity too.

This shots is will be good if it is place on the 1/3 rule compo. Even if we judges on curve patterns, it kind of lopsided. However good attempt at breaking the rule? MHO.

Tip for HDR:

HDR tends to favour the green, blue and yellow channels alot.
After processing in photomatix, do some color adjustments in PS and it should be fine

Try not to oversaturate the photos and also keep the strength range from 55-70 and it should turn out nicely
