Great stuff Kenneth67C. Thanks for sharing your pics and thoughts on this lens.

Here is another shot taken during the quarterfinals between Berdych v Tsonga during the Shanghai Masters 2012:
Shot with 5D3+Tamron 24-70@f2.8, 1/1250s, iso250, 70mm.
Notice there is obvious vignetting at this long end when shooting wide open.
Nevertheless, the shot is sharp. The photo was compressed in FB.

Yah the review is terribly boring...my eyes got tired with the first set of test charts...:bsmilie:
Not only that, the comparison with the 24-85 doesn't hold water...they are completely different class and speed(fstop).
Only the comparison with the 24-70 is, and in those instances, it wins big on price...which isn't surprising...yup you need more to surprise me.
The Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 at work
I always have people asking me about third-party lenses (probably because I use mostly Nikon-brand lenses), so when I heard we had one in-house I asked to borrow it for this shoot, because Id heard some good things about it. I have to tell you, I was pretty darn impressed and wound up using it that day more than I thought. Check out the image below.
I always do a few details shots along the sidelines (theyre great for slideshows, photo books, and just as supporting images to tell a story) and the lens did beautifully! Sharp, crisp, nice contrast overall a great value for the money (it costs a third less than the Nikon or Canon versions of the same lens). Its perhaps not the prettiest lens, and it doesnt feel quite a solid as my Nikon version, but outside of that nik-picking I was impressed.

Ricardo Ong said:hi guys,
was at Paul Smith (mandarin gallery), opening last nite, saw a "pro-photographer" covering the event using Tamron 24-70 with MKIII, changing both Video / Pics...
so jus a observation, even professional are embracing this lens and do not really care about "third party lens" status...
