focus is acceptable but is slow compared to canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS at max out 200mm.

seems like the AF and focussing falls a bit short hmm...

hey then isit noisy ??? as in how loud is the fousing thingy??

That's why in the end I bought a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 with HSM... fast and quiet.

any idea how does the HSM match up with Canon's USM???

No idea on that. Not a Canon user. But if there are any differences, its gonna be minimal.

OK, OT again.... back to Tamron's 70-200f/2.8!:bsmilie:

For those that are wondering, I had a feel of the lens during a canon meet up last week @ Funan.

Lens was attached to a 40D (no grip):

1. Weight wise (plus body) about the weight of a 70-200 non IS. Build feels solid. I particularly love the lens hood.

2. AF wise, most have have highlighted, its slow. Yes, AF is a tad slow (clutch motor system, those famliar with the Tamron 90mm Macro would be familiar). Kind of reminds me of the Tokina 80-200 AF performance overall.

3. IQ wise - Sharp. Was having a lens test with camera mounted to tripod shooting a newspaper. IQ is pretty good and acceptable overall.

thanks for sharing the experience..
was wondering, is the af accuracy high on AI Servo ?

I read the spec think it will b a good buy if at 9hundred plus spore dollar.
Let me read up some more on Sigma 70-200.. f2.8
thanks for sharin

The IQ is fantastic.

I used it to shoot people.

However, if one wants to shoot sports like F1, it may be a bit lacking

Is the Nikon mount available here already? just curious

Yeah. CP quoted $1350, w/o GST, cash. Ouch.
