focus is acceptable but is slow compared to canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS at max out 200mm.
Available in Japan & USA now. wonder when will come to SG.... Canon mount so far, other mounts to follow.

looks pretty compact. anyone know what the blue ring is for?
US$700 ~ S$954!!! so cheap???
That's why in the end I bought a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 with HSM... fast and quiet.
any idea how does the HSM match up with Canon's USM???
Was quoted $1420 w/GST, cash.![]()
For those that are wondering, I had a feel of the lens during a canon meet up last week @ Funan.
Lens was attached to a 40D (no grip):
1. Weight wise (plus body) about the weight of a 70-200 non IS. Build feels solid. I particularly love the lens hood.
2. AF wise, most have have highlighted, its slow. Yes, AF is a tad slow (clutch motor system, those famliar with the Tamron 90mm Macro would be familiar). Kind of reminds me of the Tokina 80-200 AF performance overall.
3. IQ wise - Sharp. Was having a lens test with camera mounted to tripod shooting a newspaper. IQ is pretty good and acceptable overall.
That's too expensive!!!
The IQ is fantastic.
I used it to shoot people.
However, if one wants to shoot sports like F1, it may be a bit lacking
