How come kuyt & Stevie look like they got jaundice?![]()
Hi there! I am really keen to get a tamron zoom lens, but I m not too sure the differences between,
- Tamron SP 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD lens for Canon
- Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens
Can someone advise me on this? Thanks!
Hi fellow clubsnappers, (if there's such a term)
i'm going to get an Sony with IBIS. I'm wondering, since the body has IBIS, can i just settle for the cheaper version? OR does the new lens come with Sony mount at a lower price?
last but not least, does anybody have a low low price at any particular store now, for BOTh lens? (lazy man hoping to save some time)
Regards
Norman
And not necessary cheaper than those with VC.. USD us the selling point here I think

I asked a few reputable shops and they say this lens is not in SG yet but the price is expected to be 6++ for Sony.
I do wonder if it's worth paying 3x the price for faster AF. Is IQ much better? I would appreciate real usage feedback.
Thanks in advanced!
Do note that you also get VC. Comes in very usefull at the 300mm f5.6 end.
If you can get someone to get it for you from the US, it is selling for 349 USD after rebates in amazon.
normanlai said:i read that in-lens at 300mm VC is better, unfortunately Sony mount don't have VC because its in the camera body, so.... nope, no VC.
oh gosh 349USD is really cheap! but that's equal to getting it 2nd hand as Tamron SG don't warrant goods bought outside of SG.

fmeeran said:Oh yes, I forgot you were on the sony mount. My bad. Then yes , you're paying more just for the usd motor.
fmeeran said:Nikon and canon claim in-lens vc is better as it has to move less for stabilizing the longer lenses while the sensor based vc will have to move about 5-6mm for longer lenses to compensate.
The flip side of the coin is they don't give you normal to short telephoto primes with the vc.
I also heard someone say the 5 axis IS on the em5 is better as it also compensates angles.
I would hope someone would incorporate both in lens and body vc so that I can get away with being so bad at stabilizing the camera.![]()
normanlai said:Stabilizers are only good for static objects. A good photographer will benefit from learning how to hold a heavy lens, where to best place the fingers etc to be able to be stable yet operate the camera effectively. In addition to that, steady the breathing and use the VF will also help stabilize the entire setup.
The marketing of technology lures the misinformed consumer to believe that money can buy great shots. Meaning bodies, lens, flash and more. Though I must admit, true to a certain degree if the environment is restrictive.
