Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical Field Test

Anyone know where is the service centre for tamron?? And How do I check if my tamron len is it under warranty? I find this len super slow in focusing both low light and well light. I bought my len from TCW as well. Think the shop is not an authorised dealer listed in the ad...

If you did not get a warranty card at time of purchase, it is probably a "grey" set; i.e. warranty covered by shop of purchase.

btw, the Tamron Service Centre is in Changi Business Park - do a search for JELCORP which is their authorised service agent.

Called them (JELCORP).. they said they will sent their len back to JApan for servicing and we need to pay for it...

if it is a grey set, bring it back to TCW

hi, do you find any issue with slow or indecisive focusing with Tamron AF 18-270mm lens, especially for long distance or fast moving object?

Yes of COs.... Very irritated by that... even in some cases to close a distance with low light the len cannot decide on what to focus... and it take "Million of years" to get the focus right.. Give Up!!!!;(

when that happens, i would switch to manual focus

btw, some of the blame also lies with the camera body

hello Mr ortega,
i was very keen to try this lens after seeing your posts here..
now i'm using it on a D90.
apart from some flaws like hunting sometimes at 270 end in lowlight, severe zoom creep, etc etc.. i think the lens works just great
thanks for sharing..

Hi... thanks for the discussion. I'm planning to get also a all in one lens.
Got tired of going to kids performances, and not being able to get a good shot 'cos it's too far away. So could you advise if the Tamron is good for these type of shows? Low light, no flash, far away, movement? If not, is the Canon L lens better? and which one?
Thanks.

Hi, can post a picture in 18mm, 55mm, 100mm, 200mm, 270mm.;p

I have been eyeing this lens for a long time, but did not have the courage to buy.
Cannot find a place to rent this tamron len to try out as well.

Is this good for low light super zoom? If not, what is good? I think i tried the Canon 24 - 105. Is that better?

24-105 is an L bro ;p...its USM means silent and fast focus..
this 18-270 is not meant for sniping in a dim lit restaurant or in a theatre but..
it managed at acceptable speed to take some pics in an indoor flower show..
it is best to use faster zoom or a prime if you meant "good for low light" performance IMHO :)
