one quick question..
i read a review on it and it says :
"..When mounted on the Nikon (F/N80)body, whether in Manual/Aperture or whatever priority, as soon as the distance scale goes BELOW FIFTEEN feet, whether on autofocus or manual focus, the Nikon-in-camera-computer reduces the lens aperture to F3,0 and then progressively all the way down to f5.6 at the macro distance.."

can you help to test on this?
cos i am also looking to buy a macro lens..

thks.

On my D70, the max aperture drops to f3.0 at 10feet, then progressively down to f5.6 at the minimum focusing distance, which is at 0.96feet.

thks jumbocrab..

it cannot stay at f2.8 throughout?
at closest range, it will have to be f5.6?

i also read somewhere that nikon micro 60mm also have this characteristic..
so they are similar :(

any idea that f5.6 is ok for normal macro taking?

it's always better to shoot with a smaller apperture. more details.

Has anyone used this lens (90mm macro) for portraits? Care to share your pics and experience taking protraits with this?

TIA :)

anyone knows the latest price for this lens?

what's the maximum distance you can shoot a non-moving bug from with this lens? understand in other threads that 90mm is the minimum for a macro lens.

dont get wat u're asking here..
you can shoot the bug from a mile away and it'll look like it's been shot a mile away..
there's no maximum distance, only minimum focussing distance..

hey clown, aiyah of course i meant to shoot macro. who wants to shoot a bug a mile away? let me rephrase: what is the furthest distance i can shoot with this less in macro having the least disturbance to the bug and i will still get a reasonable macro shot?

orh.. heh..

1:1 macro distance for the tamron 90mm is 29cm.

The 90mm, 100mm or the 105mm is a valuable lens for such magnificent nature work but creativity is the desire to express ourselves. To formulate these expressions, we have to draw from our "reservoir" of experience, dreams, mindset, desires and mix together what was, what is, and what could be. But to keep repeating, your life just fills up this reservoir. How many goes for the 200mm Micro?

Not forgeting the "reservoir" that keeps our $$$$... :bsmilie: :bsmilie: if we buy buy buy ... sorry espn to borrow your punch lines with out asking.. :D

Is there alot of difference between the previous non-Di & the current new Di version?

The difference is just in terms of lens coating to prevent reflection off the CCD?

What about image quality?
Is the Di version significantly better than the new Di version?

Sorry for the ignorant questions.
Coz I am considering a 2nd hand non-Di oe a new Di.

Thanks :)
